MetaTank
Can’t wait till I get the filters for my phone. Still having trouble getting pics with the intense blues on the pico. It's weird how it makes the rocks look fuzzy cause it won't focus on them, but it picks up the corals pretty well. So actually a neat effect...IF THAT WAS MY INTENDED GOAL....lol 4 1 Quote Link to comment

There are several similar phote editing apps available. I have some filters now but was using Snapseed in the past to make the pics more what I see with my eye. Quote Link to comment

One was recommended to me, but I’m hesitant to pay three bucks for an app when I’m at a time where I should be limiting purchases. I don’t have as much money comin in lately... so in other words, rather save that money to buy corals...lol. 1 2 Quote Link to comment
MetaTank
CUC just arrived, huge box, super light cause they ship with minimal water. Updates soon 3 Quote Link to comment
MetaTank
Ok they are floating. Well packaged, in an insulated bag, then another bag containing 5 bags of critters. One bag of giant snails, and the rest seem good for a pico. The giants must be the nerites. I’m floating everyone in the 7 gallon now 6 Quote Link to comment
MetaTank
Well, I acclimated then based on Reefcleaners instructions. The good ol’ float and plop. Floated for 15 min, then plopped them in the tank, and tossed the water out. 4 hermits 3 nerites 5 ceriths 15? Draws ceriths 5 nassarius, three really small, and 2 small ones... but the resident hermit is currently attacking one...but it burrowed and the hermit walked off looking dejected...lol Everythin looks to be moving moving around and doing its thing except a couple of the regular ceriths. But the dwarfs are actively cleaning as I type The hermits are like 4x the size of the resident hermit. I may have to put the tiny guy in the pico soon, but the new hermits are making themselves right at home All in all, SUPER POSITIVE experience with the Reefcleaners order so far, and the price is unbeatable for what you get! One final quick pic...a Nassarius riding a Nerite... 6 1 Quote Link to comment
MetaTank
Well. Here’s a dwarf cerith riding a nassarius...lol apparently it’s one big snail cuddle puddle except the regular ceriths remain to be pissed...lol. Such high expectations, they say give them three days to come about, it’s been about 30 minutes, so they get a pass...lol 4 Quote Link to comment
MetaTank
Fed the candy cane in the Pico. Eating a squid tentacle, slurping it up like spaghetti...lol 3 1 Quote Link to comment

MetaTank
Been away from Home since Friday evening, and I fully expected my CUC to have wreaked havoc in my tanks when I was gone. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had done a pretty good job of cleaning in the past couple days and none of the frag’s were too far out of place. Those somehow they managed to rotate a couple frags that were facing front to be now facing the rear? Lol I gotta glue them down Anyway, when I first got my rock with the zoanthids on it, there were two frag plugs on it. The gold/yellow zoas that colonized the rock, and the other frag looked like it had melted. Well I popped it in the tank anyway, and ended up glueing the broken stylophora frag on to it a couple weeks ago. Well it has some really small green zoas on it, and on the rock where the plug was attached. Amazingly enough, they look to be making a come back after all these weeks!! They are almost totally flat right now, and don’t bulge out from the mat...but they are clearly a different variety. Be interesting to see how these develop, since they are barely just starting to make a come back. They seriously look like they had melted away in the weeks my rock was in the bucket before the contest began, so I’m cautiously optimistic that they seem to be reemerging after all this time 9 Quote Link to comment

MetaTank
So my power is going to be shut off for maintenance tonight, just getting ready. The insulated bag my snails came in fits over the top of the hood, tank, filter, and light...lol 6 2 Quote Link to comment
MetaTank
And I picked up a battery powered air pump for the 7 gallon which houses most of the corals right now Also mixing 8 gallons of saltwater for water changes in the morning 4 Quote Link to comment

Wendy
Good luck tonight! Hopefully everything gets turned on sooner than expected. You already know those zoas in the pico are very hardy (; I need to check into one of those battery powered pumps for the times we get black outs! 1 Quote Link to comment
748S911
You should be good with battery powered air pump, and insulated bag. 🤞 1 Quote Link to comment
MetaTank
Looks like everything made it through the night, the tanks didn’t dip below 70 degrees, and the power came back about 30 minutes ago. My Inkbird temp controller alarm was going off when the power came back ...lol... that thing rocks 6 Quote Link to comment

The battery powered air pump was not exactly the most quiet thing in the world, but it puts out a lot of air and I’m glad I have it now for these power outages. Plus, when I wrapped it in a towel, it muffle the noise quite a bit 12 hours ago, 748S911 said: You should be good with battery powered air pump, and insulated bag. 🤞 The funny thing is the 7 gallon tank dipped down a couple degrees lower than the tiny tank. That insulated bag really did the trick! I was almost positive that the larger water volume would have stayed warmer throughout the night, but the bag really worked! 6 Quote Link to comment

I think it's hilarious when hermits take their snail rides or when you have a hermit on a snail on another snail. The air pumps are definitely not quiet but they come in handy. Quote Link to comment

After the general elections next week, everyone is anticipating our rolling blackouts ("Load-shedding") to begin once again. It's kind of a winter thing in our country, not having power for most of the day. 1 Quote Link to comment
MetaTank
Took my daughter to the beach yesterday, was hoping to find some neat things in the rocks at low tide, but it wasn’t too fruitful...lol I found a few of these big ol’ algae covered snails...easily the width of a half dollar or wider! And some cold water anemones But I did find a pretty shell to offer to the hermits in the pico! And all of yesterday’s escapades led me to dig through some old stuff. My grandfather lived in St Augustine, FL in the summers before he passed, and he used to beachcomb every day...in my next post I’ll share some of the coral skeletons he had collected! 11 Quote Link to comment
MetaTank
Just received my Chinese off brand “Reef Lens”. It was like 1/8th the price of the brand name ones...but it took about a month to arrive since it came on the slow boat from china Well, not impressed on the packaging...lol. Magical lens. Harrumph!! But on closer inspection, the macro lens is surprisingly beefy And it came with three filters, the macro lens, the clip, and a little bag to hold them all in. All in all, surprised at the quality for the price upon initial inspection. I still have to play around a bunch with it, but these are the initial results. I am pleased so far. I’m sure once I play with the lights and filters, I’ll dial it in a little better 7 3 Quote Link to comment
