MetaTank
Nibbler hanging out with Nibbler. The resemblance is striking! You can see why I named my clown after nibbler. I can barely tell them apart! 4 4 Quote Link to comment

MetaTank
Okay, so after my accident I have been going through some rough times. I apologize for not keeping my thread as updated as I should, but i did take a couple pics just now. FINALLY 😁 FTS August 1st Everything is doing pretty good. Here are some closer shots. I added a piece of birdsnest since my last update. It’s in the middle there, happy as can be. Still need a permanent placement for it, thinking at the peak of the rock on the left Zoas seem a little pissed today...eh...zoas...lol The jack o lantern lepto is encrusting the sides of its plug, and that’s one of those larger plugs...inch and three quarters in diameter maybe? Nice growth from when it went into the tank May 5th (under actinic only) August 1st(under daylights in shade) The acans are both looking great, pumping out baby polyps at their respective bases. The green one below has like 10 baby polyps all around the base that all grew in this tank after purchase And the kryptonite candy cane that began as a single little polyp has indeed grown three hungry mouths and is growing nicely May 12th August 1st Just did my first major water change in a while, and I think I’ll be able to keep up with more frequent water changes from here on...at least till I run out of salt...lol. I really apologize for my absence and I will catch up on everyone’s threads soon! Life without a car has just been...a new adjustment since the accident...lol Hope everyone is doing well!!! 5 Quote Link to comment

MetaTank
Everything continues to grow. My zoas are finally taking off too. I have been busy with life, but didn’t wanna get too behind on here. The clown fish is loving this little tank, and really claims is as his. Little algae problem, but that may be because the astera snail took a walk and is no longer with us...lol. I’ll pick one up in the next week or two. Hope everyone is doing well! 5 Quote Link to comment
kimdawg
I hope life is treating you well. I am glad to hear from your tank I was afraid that you had taken the tank down. Everything is looking good especially the pink zoas in the middle. I am having a problem with a little bit of algae also. I think I need to get an astrea snail. The hermits aren't really doing much for it. 1 Quote Link to comment

And naw, didn’t take it down, just been taking care of life. I’ve had my daughter 4 days a week, and she’s almost a year and a half, and starting to get into things...lol Randomly finding wooden spatulas under the couch and stuff, haha! 6 Quote Link to comment

kimdawg
The best part of life is making time for your children. Enjoy her while she is young. They grow up so quickly and just in a few years she will want to spend more time with her friends. I am spending a lot my time with my tanks now that my daughter has her own house and job. I miss those early days, but I am proud of what she has accomplished in these past few years. 2 Quote Link to comment

Yeah, the stylophora and birdsnest are really doing well, I’m surprised! As well as all the LPS. Weirdly enough, it was the zoas that took the longest to start taking off in this tank 6 hours ago, debbeach13 said: The corals and the baby look happy. Thanks! I have a ton of catching up to do as well. My back has been a little messed up since my accident, and it’s made everything take a little longer, and unfortunately my Nano Reef leisure time has suffered as a result. Oh well, just gotta keep on trucking! 5 Quote Link to comment
Christopher Marks
Hi @MetaTank ❤️ Can you believe it has been 7 months already? You've had quite a summer to say the least, I hope you're continuing to feel better with each passing day 🌻 This is a friendly reminder to post your final competition FTS and a 1 to 2 paragraph recap of your experience in the pico reef competition. Be sure to share your future plans for your pico reef as well, will it continue forward or get an upgrade? The competition ends on Sunday October 27th at midnight! Thank you for being a part of the Old School Pico Reef Competition! ❤️ 1 Quote Link to comment
MetaTank
Final FTS The competition has been fun. I only wish life hadn’t thrown me a couple curveballs halfway through. It was incredibly fun to watch everyone’s picos come to life, and I’m proud of everyone in the competition. As we continue forward, I will maintain this pico. It will be my primary tank for a while, and I hope to get my final issues takes care of (little algae outbreak). Everything has grown, and I look forward to watching this pico develop over the next year or so. This candy cane started as one tiny polyp, now it has 5 mouths and continues to grow! The blasto has has so many baby polyps, but this one still dwarfs them all The pink zippers that began with 6 polyps took a while to take off, but it’s growing a new polyp every week or two now, and seems to be speeding now up. Hard to believe this sps was a tiny broken 1/4 inch shard of a larger colony that spent 30 minutes on the carpet before being found and glued down Love these acans, easily one of my favorite pieces. Turning into a nice colony And these were the mystery zoas that took a couple months to show themselves. Started with 6 polyps I think, now there are 13-14? And the lepto is fully encrusted, probably woulda spread more if it wasn’t on the sand bed! Thanks for looking, folks! 13 Quote Link to comment
debbeach13
Congratulations on making it to the finals. Fantastic job on the stand and hood. You are a very strong person and have carried on even with the loss of your job and the terrible car accident. The tank looks amazing. I am jealous of your candy cane growth. I probably have not tried some in 20 yrs. after killing several. Good luck in the competition. 4 Quote Link to comment
