Mr. Microscope
I ordered this today Along with 5 other acans from cherrycorals. Wow! They've got some great deals on killer acans going on right now. Quote Link to comment
--chris--
Yes, I was lucky in that i emailed sunday asking about local pick up discount on shipping (its free btw, no box fee etc...). He responded today and gave me an hour heads up that he was posting some very nice stuff and to check the site in an hour. I had pick of the litter! It was great. Here is everything i bought.... https://www.cherrycorals.com/product.php?productid=10927&cat=15&page=1 https://www.cherrycorals.com/product.php?productid=10949&cat=15&page=1 https://www.cherrycorals.com/product.php?productid=10942&cat=15&page=1 https://www.cherrycorals.com/product.php?productid=10955&cat=15&page=1 https://www.cherrycorals.com/product.php?productid=10960&cat=15&page=1 https://www.cherrycorals.com/product.php?productid=11044&cat=15&page=1 1 Quote Link to comment

Can't believe the ridiculous prices some retailers have been trying to sell a head of acan for recently. Quote Link to comment
1reefluvr2
Those are truly great prices! .. On other note... How do I keep my acans from turning orange in my edge .. They used to be red now they are orange , can it be reversed? Any help would be great:) Quote Link to comment
--chris--
Yes i was really surprised at how affordable his prices were considering what he does with them and that his pics are real life colors. There is a local guy selling some his CC's Acans he grew out for $80 a polyp and people are paying that price. I mean come on! You can buy them straight from CC and pay $10-$20 PP. Fools and their money. Ill be picking them up Monday. If anyone see's something on the site and you want me to check out and let you know what it looks like in person i can do that. Those will probably be more orange/blue/purple from what he told me. He photographs under Blue+ T5's and royal Blue LED's so the fluorescent pigments will be exaggerated. Check his videos on youtube for more of the "day to day" colors you might expect. I think he is a sponsor here, ask in the forum. If not, email him directly and ask him. Quote Link to comment

Spencer7
I shall ask Again maybe someone knows but so far no replys to my question on how to keep them red and not turn orange. Chill ur nips, there are a few possible remedies... -Lighting is probably the biggest, violets tend to help with red. This works hand in hand with placement and how you utilize the light -Dosing, certain trace elements are known to bring out colors in coral -Feeding for sure will help provide the nutrients the coral needs (helping growth and color), even if it's just plain shrimp pellets -There is a new article on Reef Builders talking about how coral (acro) health directly relates to coral fluorescence though this ideology can be applied to all corals -Don't expect bright red, probably the hardest color to get in any coral (besides Chili and a few others) so don't have ridiculous expectations. Plenty of people (including me) have bought and grown costly/uniquely colored acans only to have them morph into something else (sometimes better). Others get one glory pic in modified conditions. Club members, next time someone asks a Q please try to answer, even if your answer is short and vague it still shows that someone is listening 1 Quote Link to comment
Caronte
Here is a picture of some of my acan to apply officially as a member of this club. I got some Acan Lords, echinatas, and micromussas. I hear that the echinatas have the strongest sting of the three (correct me if I'm wrong please) Can I place them next to y rock anemones or this can be a mistake? Quote Link to comment
KuansReef
Crazy stuff. Keep coming! Quote Link to comment

--chris--
the biggest problem im having with my acans is the damn snails tipping them over since they are frags. I dont want to put them on tiles/rubble since it will look like poo poo. I dont have much rock left to mount them in the lower portion of the tank. I may be moving them into my frag tank until i figure something else out Quote Link to comment
Caronte
I get a micromussa colony today, can I placed together with my acanlords? Or they sting each other? Quote Link to comment
Spencer7
I am not quite sure, play it safe and keep them apart for now. Maybe leave it next to a small acan as a test, come back in an hour and even if they hate each other it's not long enough for wither to die. In other news if you like me, my acans, or stuff check out the links in my sig (sry to plug guys) just posted pics in all links. Here is a random flower... Quote Link to comment

FlowerMama
I have 3 single acan heads arriving in a few days- I want them to spread out and not ball up- is it possible to make a thin flat disc out of putty to extend past the frag disc? Would that work? Will it encrust on that? And if that will be an option, and it covers the sand, do I have to clean the sand underneath on regular maintenance? Quote Link to comment
saltwatercoral
I just had the idea yesterday to feed my acan lords some scallops… So I drove to the grocery store and grabbed myself 4 raw scallops. I took 1 of the scallops and chopped the heck out of it with a knife so it was in tiny pieces. I then took my coral feeder and mixed in my tank water and the tiny pieces and began feeding my Acan Lords. I have never seen these guys take in food so quick! By the time I finished feeding only about ¼ of my acans in the tank some of the acans already took the entire piece in and pushed out there feeder tentacles asking for more…. So I stood there for about 30 min until it seemed that they all had their stomachs filled and their mouths. While I was waiting I had to hit the hermits away from them steeling the food. Then this morning before I took off for work I looked at the acans and I have never seen them this FAT and any time throughout the day! I will post some pic’s when I get home, but it looks like this is going to be how I feed these guys from now on! It did take some time to prep and feed but if they look this happy all the time and begin to multiply quicker than this is how it’s going to be done! Just thought I would throw this out there for any one that has acans and was wondering what to feed them that has GREAT RESULTS! Quote Link to comment

I feed a lot of Fauna Marin and I like the results, but i love mixing it up. Speaking of, new shipment. Might have to sell off a few duplicates though. Quote Link to comment
