I started off with very little rock so had these in the sump. Just never removed then really. Don't suppose there are doing much these days I as I have a lot of rock now. But it's a place for the critters to hang out in the sump. Nothing more.👍🏼 2 Quote Link to comment
Murphs_Reef
Totally forgot I was tracking my parameters query here Same result so far though.. not rising like it was at the end of summer... It's totally level m, rather high or at least on the high end of good, but never drop. LFS testing this weekend. In other news, the LFS guys are coming around on Friday to help me out install better pipe work so both drains go to the large compartment so I have space to add decent sock holders. And then finally have a bubble trap that works... 3 Quote Link to comment

Murphs_Reef
ok so pipework will get sorted in the next few days, so the sump will be perfect shortly. In other news discussing storage and a cabinet for the power, dosers etc. The LFS told me to get the measurements I needed the cabinet to be, and he would get the tank manufacturers to build me a bespoke cabinet in the same finish as the tank stand. Tomorrow I will draw up some designs and share something to get people's views before submitting to the LFS. 👍🏼 1 Quote Link to comment

Even one set of matching tests wold be reassuring. Could do that a couple times to be really sure. Like I said it's not inexplicable, but it's an unusual state of balance if all is as it seems in the test numbers. (Don't jinx it!) 😉👍🤞 So on LFS testing... LFS: KH (hanna): 9.4 dKH Ca (hanna): 480 ppm Mg (Salifert): 1500 ppm Mine at home: KH (Salifert): 9.6 dKH Ca (Salifert): 475 ppm Mg (Salifert): 1500 ppm 3 Quote Link to comment
Murphs_Reef
Here we are... Fully opened up, low flow area (just enough to move it a sway), high light... Loving life to the max 2 Quote Link to comment
Murphs_Reef
Actually @mcarroll looking at the raw data for a second here.. all numbers (CA, Mg, dKH) have actually been super slowly creeping down. Winding the view of the data from the standard month view to a year it's pretty clear. In the last week I got a further 3 decent sized LPS which seem to have accelerated the down turn a little bit. Have a look at this alkalinity data view. Both mg and ca are the same. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
mcarroll
Just an initial (and slight) misreading of data then! Less mysterious, but still a pretty nice state of balance!! 2 Quote Link to comment

Murphs_Reef
Just checking behind in the weir, I remember how much I appreciate the peppermint in the DT! The volume of aps back there is amazing... There are easy 100 in there, pure white fu.ckers.. Well they have been there for a long time based on the size of them, and they haven't been causing me problems (I don't think) so I'm not rushing for the Aiptasia X just yet. Other than Aiptasia there are a massive amount of sponge... It's really great to see the different life forms thoughout the tank. The sump is brittle star, worm and snail heavy, the DT although stacked with coral, inverts and fish has a bit of cyanobacteria but is almost void of anything small due to the wrasses and snails, now the weir Aiptasia and sponge find.. really cool!👍🏼 4 Quote Link to comment

Murphs_Reef
New 3rd prime has been installed and looks great.. Bad news, my YCG died after 1year 8 months of having him! No apparent illness, my reckoning is that the competition for food was hard with the 5 chromis, 3 large wrasse, royal gramma and tang.. there was never any bullying.. just fierce competition at feeding times. Need to trim these back from the combs a little @Snow_Phoenix Overall the tank looks good 4 Quote Link to comment
