paulsvang
How do you like your cabinet? I had a white one and I started to notice the nails coming back out. Are you having any of that issue? Quote Link to comment

I haven't noticed any structural issues with my stand. I love it. I even took out the center brace as it appeared to be overkill and blocked my access to the sump, and haven't had any problems. cnseekatz
Blasted some aiptasia with vinegar in an insulin syringe this morning. Super fun, and they haven't come back out of their holes yet. Stay tuned. Quote Link to comment
cnseekatz
I have the worst luck when it comes to having corals shipped to me. I ordered 6 various SPS frags from an online vendor. 4 were DOA and the other 2 died within 24 hours. The only other times I've had SPS shipped, they've been 80% DOA. I guess I should just stick to LFS pickups. It's lame because these vendors are sooo good at delivering coral porn that I cannot resist! On a happier note. I picked up a nice Valida frag from my LFS. The frag isn't much to look at right now, but here's the colony it came from. Beautiful! 1 Quote Link to comment
cnseekatz
Snail Suicide Watch 2016!! I came home two days ago to find a Nassarius snail on the floor beneath my tank. He was pretty dried up, but just in case, I threw him back in the tank and he came to immediately. This morning, I was making tea, and heard a loud snap and found another (the same?) Nassarius snail on the floor beneath my tank. I grabbed him and tossed him back in, no harm, no foul. As I was doing so, I saw one of my Turbo snails hanging out on the outside of the glass, near the rim of the tank. What the heck?! Is this indicative of a problem, or do I just need to clean yummy stuff off the glass at the top of my tank a bit more frequently? My parameters are in check, and there's certainly no shortage of food under the water. 2 Quote Link to comment

I think they just like to explore (yeah, just edited as I reread it and saw i put that I will file it 3' from the tank - supposed to be I will FIND it three feet from the tank. Nope, I do not file my snails) I have the worst luck when it comes to having corals shipped to me. Aren't they nuts?? i am NOT a fan of the regular nerites. I have some of the virgin nerites from Live Plants and those stay in the tank, no problem and are real workhorses. I think they're also known as tapestry snails if I'm not mistaken. Quote Link to comment

They seriously must be! I normally don't order them as they escape so much but when they do stay in they do a good job on cleaning up so I decided I'd try them again! However that will not happen again! Not only do I have to keep putting them in they leave a trail all across the outside of my glass that I have to clean, so annoying. Quote Link to comment

m@tt
I think Hallucination Palys are a lie... once they mature, they look pretty lame... Where do you have them in the tank? I think they keep the color in lower light, I have mine on the sand and they look good. Quote Link to comment
cnseekatz
Where do you have them in the tank? I think they keep the color in lower light, I have mine on the sand and they look good. They're midtank... which is to say 6" below the surface, instead of the bottom, which is 12". They get pretty full sun. They're definitely healthy. They've been spreading out pretty quickly over the past couple weeks. So once they spread onto the rockwork, I'll try to pull a few off and move them to a shadier spot and see what happens. Thanks for the heads up! Mine made me hallucinate that they were actually there after they melted Lol... now that's a marketable trait in a coral!! 1 Quote Link to comment
ReefWeeds
Lol... now that's a marketable trait in a coral!! Isn't it though? For some reason, I just couldn't get them to take off. I started with two polyps and it stayed at two polyps for about 8 months, but they would get bigger, then they'd get smaller, then they'd get bigger again. Then they closed up and I kept thinking I saw them starting to open then one day they were just gone. Quote Link to comment
