Thank you!

I use two BESTA... here are the links...

One 25 1/4" tall shelf

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50102157/#/00134052

One 15" tall shelf

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20134051/

And two glossy doors that match the shelves.

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20227272/#/70178467

Total is about 40 inches height.

25" is too short, that's why I combined two units. The shelf unit already comes with kit that can assembled two units together.

I did not use legs, you can buy a set of legs that can raise about 5" taller but I found 40" is just about right so I did not get legs.

Thanks! I've been so confused, especially after going to ikea last week!!

How much extra edge does the tank have in the front and back? The sides seem to edge up perfectly, but the front seems to be a tad bit longer?

Thanks again.

Here is what I found out today... about my Alkalinity and Calcium level... I use Hanna Checkers

Yesterday's values:

Alkalinity 6.6 dKH

Calcium 442 ppm

Today's values:

Alkalinity 5.9 dKH

Calcium 390 ppm

My freshly mixed saltwater

Alkalinity 9.5 dKH

Calcium 456 ppm

Is it possible Alk and Calcium can drop this much in one day?

Next water change is due on Thursday, it will be one week.

Hi delatu,

I´have a costume made that is like the ADA 90f

I had the same problem with the Alk dropping 1 dkh per day and the other parameters were right, so i both the carbonates balling salt and started dosing it manually every day and so can keep my alk over 7,5dkh every time i test and my sps´s are growing faster and the ones that lost colors are recovering!

I believe that for now you can maintain you Mag and Ca only with water-changes because corals can resist some changes but the Kh is really important to remain stable.

I´m also considering buying a one way dosing pump just for Kh.

You have a really beautiful tank! Congrats

Yes, it is absolutely possible. If I were you I would do a wc asap. If your alk drops any lower you may (probably will) start losing your sps.

They will start to receed from the base of the coral up.

Tested the water this morning, it dropped to 5.6 dKH so immediately did a 2 gallons water change, will monitor again when I get home tonight.

Thanks!

No problem. Depth of shelf is 15 3/4" and 60F is 12", so you will have 3 3/4" of clearance front+back.

Width is perfectly 24", so 60F will still flush on both sides.

The sudden drop of alkalinity scares me a little, I will definitely start dosing some kind of alk buffer to stabilized it. Thanks again!

Thanks dude, I wasn't a huge fan of ADA's until I saw this setup! Great work, classy tank bro.

Is it normal that you think about your tank at work all the time? And just want to go back home as soon as possible to see it! Still at work... two hours to go!

Lolol yeah it's perfectly normal. Just make sure you put enough emphasis on the work topic, you're fine.

Oh and here, this is why I do 70-80% water changes weekly.

Meet the love of this guy's 5g nano reef, "Jake's EcoReef One".

He does 100% water change almost every week. Featured on AdvancedAquarist.com

do you have a heater for your tank? i was about to place an order for the tank when i realized i have nowhere to hide a heater....

Lolol wait are you going to use mp10 only?? Or you're adding a filtration to it? If you're adding an eheim filter than you can use hydor in-line heater to hide the heater, no sump needed.

Mmm I see. Is it really cold over in Chicago? If so, I'm afraid you have no choice but to add a heater in the display....lol.There are some sexy looking heaters out there like Neotherm Cobalt.

This is crazy! No live rock. No live sand. No additives. Just 100% water change! So many corals in one tiny tank too!

Yes. I use 50 watts Finnex Heater. It's pretty small. I hide it behind right side rock. You can see it from the attached photo below. Also, here is the Amazon link.

Just did a little project tonight, finally hide the ugly wire! Thanks to whatisit for the tips! Just need to paint the grommets wall color tomorrow. :)

Whoa...I've never seen that technique before. What's it called anyway? Thanks for sharing lol, I'll keep that one in mind.

Yes, so now does it convince you just as much to want to make bigger water changes? I think so. :)

I dont know what they call it but I learned it at my old job as a CCTV/security alarms technician.

When I buy a house there will be no wires shown anywhere in it.
