You could be a writer if only you stopped drawing pictures with a rabbit on your lap and lifting dumbbells all day long.

LOL..this is true...at night I draw pictures of clams.

Edit- On this thread, of course.

Of course. ;)

:flower: for Kat. Someone needs to edit that smiley and make it holding coral instead of a flower.

Thank you! Dragons breath gets added to it today.

Ok, for a 20 long:

6x neutral white Luxeon Rebel ES

12x royal blue Luxeon Rebel ES

2x deep red Luxeon Rebel

2x cool blue Luxeon Rebel

2x cyan Luxeon Rebel

4x violet 410-420nm Epistar

Get the LEDs from Steve's LEDs.

Use this link and select royal blue, royal blue, neutral white, qty 6: http://shop.stevesleds.com/3-up-Tristar-Se...ar-Separate.htm

use this link and select deep red, cool blue, cyan, qty 2: http://shop.stevesleds.com/3-up-Tristar-Co...r-AntiDisco.htm

here are the violets, don't get the 3ups, just 4x of the normal: http://shop.stevesleds.com/3-Watt-True-Vio...-TrueViolet.htm

Also grab one of these fans: http://shop.stevesleds.com/Pressurizing-Co...-Fan-w-plug.htm

And a tube of thermal adhesive: http://shop.stevesleds.com/Thermal-Adhesiv...al-Adhesive.htm

And 4x of these potentiometers: http://shop.stevesleds.com/Dimmer-knob-500...Dimmer-knob.htm

He also sells really cheap solid-core wire, I'd recommend getting some of that, maybe 20-30 feet to be on the safe side: http://shop.stevesleds.com/24-Gauge-LED-Po...ge-LED-wire.htm

That should be all from Steve's.

As for the drivers that power the LEDs, I'd recommend Meanwell.

To run the neutral white, use an ELN-30-24D (you will need to adjust the driver output power, more on that once you get it in): http://store.bravoelectro.com/ledpowersupp...able-p-209.html

To run the red/green/cool blue strand, and the violet strand, pick up two ELN-30-48D: http://store.bravoelectro.com/ledpowersupp...able-p-211.html

To run the royal blue strand, use an ELN-60-48D: http://store.bravoelectro.com/ledpowersupp...able-p-228.html

That should be all from Bravo.

For the heatsink, grab this 24" piece from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000H9JJ6K/ref=biss_dp_t_asn

Also grab 4x of these power cords to give power to the Meanwell driver (select what length you need): http://www.amazon.com/C2G-Cables-03130-Uni...ords=power+cord

that's all from Amazon.

Now, to power the dimmers on the Meanwell drivers, you need a 10v adapter. RapidLED sells one here: http://www.rapidled.com/10v-ac-adapter/

I would get two of those, one to power the fan, and one to power the dimming circuit for the Meanwell drivers.

That should be everything you need to make the actual fixture, minus solder and such. You'd also need some way of hanging it, but I'll let you get creative for that part. ;)

It seems like a lot of work and lots of things to order, but it's really not, and it will all go together well and be one of the best lights you'll ever see.

Let me know if you need any info or anything.

Ben

Nice what is the cost for something like that?

All said and done, $300-350 at the most. Surprisingly a larger array isn't much more, I think mine has cost me a total of about $400 to light a 48x24x16 tank.

Yeah it really does look amazing - I've been considering an actual fuge/sump for my 12g once she's up and running with full livestock but that might be overkill. Plus I'd have to figure out how to design the plumbing from the AIO I have into the sump/fuge. I love this hobby but it is not cheap! :D

I use an overflow from my AIO to the sump. The first page of my thread has an index with a link to the sump build. LMK if I can answer questions. There is a 5G sump on sale on this forum right now...... :)

Thank you. The macros float because they are not anchored so it appears loaded from this angle.

The brown part is sticking out of the water, they can't survive fully submerged.

The brown part is the bottom where the roots grow out of, no?

Are you sure your mangroves aren't upside-down? I think I clearly see at least one that's got a little nub where the leaves should be growing sticking straight down...

Oh I see what you are saying. These are shoots, not plants yet. They have some growing to do.

I am trying to find a way to have them float properly.

The brown part is brown, and down, when still growing on the tree.

ha! yes, now I get it - they're flipped in that photo for sure. I'm using a heater bracket to hold them, but because the shoots are smaller in size than the roots the bunch doesn't stay and slip down and flip over and get dunked. Not sure how to anchor them since they are very short.
