Cute

More cuteness

I kind of hate when I place orders from different retailers and the orders arrive on the same day. I prefer the excitement to be spread out over a few days. Darn those timely merchants!!!!!!

I can't get over how much awesomeness you will be getting tomorrow :happydance:

I know, right? And I'm also potentially going to have to be running 3 drips simultaneously. I don't think I have enough decent containers... Plus if she nosedives right into the BTA before it has a chance to get settled... idk. I didn't plan this very well.

Oh well, still excited! omgomgomg

I'm not going to worry about Borate right now. I think I'm going to stop dosing for 2 days, measure at the same time to see what the new consumption is and then take it from there.

BTW the mag is 1300+

Idk. That's another shock. If you really are getting those swings, that won't be good. Likewise if you really are having serious changes in consumption, then 2 days isn't necessarily going to give you an accurate representation.

Are you being super careful/OCD when you test?

Agreed about borate; like I said, just throwing it out there...

Vid of male GBG excavating (for Weetie):

The snails in the first part of the vid are alive, but have become construction material. I rescued them and provided some rubble rocks and an empty shell, we'll see what he does with that... B)

That's so cool, I didn't know they did that!!!

Only thing is, now I'm a little worried about what a GBG would use for construction material in my tank since there's no sand.

As far as I can tell, they only do it when they're courting/spawning. He's building a nest for her approval. He lures her over to inspect it a couple times a day...

But you could always add a little sand anyway...

Very cute video.

Nope, I'm not OCD while testing.

Thanks Kat. :)

So, any consideration that swings might be at least partially a result of minor inconsistencies in your testing process? That 7-11 thing is hard to accept at face value.

LOVED the video!!!!! That is sooo cool!!!!! I don't remember seeing mine ever excavate like that. Mine never bonded though. In fact, I think he killed the "female". I'm blaming him for her disappearance. There was no other reason for her to die. She was completely healthy.

Some day I will have a true bonded pair of GBGs, just like yours. I think you really got lucky that they bonded so quickly!!!!! Congrats :)

Speaking of congrats....new stuff today!!!!! omgomgomg

I can't wait the see the BTA!!!!!!!

I wonder if maybe both of yours had already differentiated into males when you got them? Or did the one not have that high first fin ray at all? Mine fought it out (you saw the video) but it was very ritualized and didn't seem super violent. When the eventual "she" wanted to get away, "he" let her - didn't chase mercilessly or anything. I did have some great hidey holes also...

Thanks I do feel pretty lucky. :)

I've used 3 test kits. (sometimes one after the other) and they all pretty much give me the same result.

I'll pay more attention to how I test later today.

That is pretty wack. Maybe time for http://www.amazon.com/Hanna-Instruments-Ha...anna+alkalinity

Also, in addition to being careful about measurements, be sure not to let any RO/fresh water contaminate your vials. Always rinse in tank water a couple of times before testing. I've seen just a couple drops of RO (from rinsing) throw of an alk test badly...

Also, does anyone know the FedEx dance? Not here yet...

LOVE aquascapers. Highly recommend their Eco-Gorgs, especially the Eunicea. And of course their Rics and Vice Zoas...

Pics? You asked for it.

She's not as big as I thought she would be. Which is good, because neither is the BTA!

Congrats Papa! She's beautiful.

Thanks Sir! She is, but... A little growth on her lower jaw I didn't see in the pic when I bought her. Guess I'm going to have to love her, flaws and all. :)

Everything is settling in. I will try to take some shots tonight - and post them in the correct thread (clown and BTA in the 10g) btw.

Thanks all for tagging along!

I thought they differentiated cuz the one had the high fin like the male would have and the female's was short. My two would get a little violent. They'd even lock jaws sometimes.

Your new clown is absolutely gorgeous!!!!!! Very nice decision with her!!!!!!

I can't wait to see your chromis palys. My next order with Morgan, I plan to include those, if she still has some. If not, I'll need to buy some from you eventually ;)

Anxiously awaiting your pictures!!!!!!!
