Great trip to the Scottish coast line. Love spending time here. 

Got to get out along the rock pools and looked at some amazing rock structures along the way. 

I always forget how many types of algae there are along the coast line. 

 

Rock pools always seem to make me re-evaluate my scapes and how unnatural I make them look 🤣

Well it looks very happy! Have you seen tanks that are full GSP? I actually really love them. I’ll see if I can find a couple screenshots I saved and post in Reef/Life/Chat. Would be a bummer if that’s not what you’re going for though!

Looking to get another fish this weekend I think. Want a mid sized guy. Got a scopas so tangs are off. Maybe another wrasse .. 

 

Also more coral. Thinking some SPS to sit at the top of the rocks

Dear Mr R van, if you watch this image long enough you'll see the GSP growing onto the plug, ignore the dusky.... He likes to bite my hand and generally annoy the crap out of me and everything new I put in HIS domain. 

 

Also ignore the part finger you will receive on the frag, this was an unintended gluing of hand to plug.. giving the dusky more time to bite my arm as I wrestled the finger free .

I thought this lad had found a better tank to live in. Don't see him out much 

I'm less worried that this guy was a bad move. 2 months on and the sand bed still have a volume of detritus, worms and pods in it so there is plenty for the star to go at. 

He will climb the glass on the old occasion but generally I only ever see it surf the surface of the sand early in the morning.

So fish shop last night I picked up a bit of a top up of snails as the dusky has been slowly picking the CUC off.. 

• Nassarius Snail (Nassarius sp.)
• Bumble Bee Snail (Engina sp.)
• Cerith Snail (Cerithium echinatum)

Still having an oddity with my parameters but they seem to have stabilised now. Calcium is 500, Mag is 1500 and alkalinity is 10.5 it's been stable a week so what ever made them rise... Isn't now.. and the cyano that was creeping back in has gone again. 

 

Salinity is a constant 1.026 and I have done 3 X 5% water changes in the last week, so maybe I'm diluting the problem away a little... Not sure..

 

Been thinking about 1 final fish on the medium size side.. but not sure what to go for.. any suggestions?

Likely coral nippers, but neat fish: a Flame Angle or Coral Beauty.  Been debating getting one for my 100 gallon tank.

Yeah been looking at wrasse and compatibility I get lost 🤣 great fish wrasse.. my dusky and cleaner wrasses are definitely active fun fish.

Yeah see this has been one of those "I really want one" but would spend my time counting polyps nervously. It is a lovely fish...

My hawkfish is great, He's my favorite fish. Gets along with 2 clowns that have chased off several other fish. I've heard that they can be aggressive, but mine is definitely not. I don't know anything about soaps tangs though. Heres mine (the other was Live Aquaria):

Was up the shop last night to talk about the logistics of This..  not a tomorrow job but when the conservatory is built we are having a switch up of rooms so will need a larger tank

Feeding time and the only fish that never gets the wrath of the dusky wrasse is also the smallest. Why? This guy tastes like crap.  He just swans in an takes the best of the food while everyone else is fighting for it..
