Maxxumless
HII!!!! THank you for registering!!! I like you because you have a Pacific Cultured farmed Crocea!!! THose are my all time favorite clams these days, as i am having great success with them. What is so great about these clams is that usually farmed clams come in @ 1 - 2 inches, but these girls are arriving at 3 and 4 inches. Even though Crocea clams have long been considered more difficult to keep than Maxima clams, these Croceas are doing bettter than most of my maximas. I am also intrigued because you do not skim or run GFO, so I definitely want to keep an eye on your clam!!!! Good score. -Z TY... Already running into a problem. The clam looks & acts normally but in the last day hasn't been fully opening. I watched the tank more closely this afternoon and I think I know why. The larger ocellaris clown has been irritating it by hovering a couple of millimeters above the mantel every few minutes. The poor clam is opening and closing like fifteen times every few minutes. I really don't like this clown one bit and am going to try to pull it out while its sleeping tonight. It has been a constant irritation to all the inhabitants as she chooses a new host every hour. She irritates the anchor & open brain coral constantly and even gets pissed at the wavemaker/PH each power cycle. Everything that moves in the tank get's her attention and she'll race over to it and hover around it, eyeing it, and will often take a pecks. I haven't seen her bite the clam, but she regularly tries to 'clean' detritus from the corals. Ocellaris used to be my all time favorite fish... Link to comment

Every time clowns decide to host on a clam, its bad news. Except if that clam is a GIGAS. Link to comment

Has been doing quite well, and has lost some blue and become much more gold since originally purchased. Continues to have a fantastic response/reaction to light. Placement is still at the bottom of the 20H near the front pane of glass; it seems to be content on staying there and has had its byssal threads attached since I originally posted him into this log. THank you so much for the update. I always love to hear about maximas doing well and growing. Im not surprised as youre one of the skimmerless members. Link to comment
