HII!!!! THank you for registering!!! I like you because you have a Pacific Cultured farmed Crocea!!! THose are my all time favorite clams these days, as i am having great success with them. What is so great about these clams is that usually farmed clams come in @ 1 - 2 inches, but these girls are arriving at 3 and 4 inches. Even though Crocea clams have long been considered more difficult to keep than Maxima clams, these Croceas are doing bettter than most of my maximas.

I am also intrigued because you do not skim or run GFO, so I definitely want to keep an eye on your clam!!!! Good score.

TY... Already running into a problem. The clam looks & acts normally but in the last day hasn't been fully opening. I watched the tank more closely this afternoon and I think I know why. The larger ocellaris clown has been irritating it by hovering a couple of millimeters above the mantel every few minutes. The poor clam is opening and closing like fifteen times every few minutes. I really don't like this clown one bit and am going to try to pull it out while its sleeping tonight. It has been a constant irritation to all the inhabitants as she chooses a new host every hour. She irritates the anchor & open brain coral constantly and even gets pissed at the wavemaker/PH each power cycle. Everything that moves in the tank get's her attention and she'll race over to it and hover around it, eyeing it, and will often take a pecks. I haven't seen her bite the clam, but she regularly tries to 'clean' detritus from the corals. Ocellaris used to be my all time favorite fish... :(

I would get it out of there too. Every time clowns decide to host on a clam, its bad news. Except if that clam is a GIGAS.

Okay, I am sure as soon as I "register" my clam, it will die. But here goes:

Tank is a 29g hex plumbed into 2 other tanks, estimated 70 gallons.

Species of clam? Maxima 5.5 inches.
Lighting - bulb, ballast and count? Par38 for 1st 3 months, now a Reef Breeder Value LED
Clam depth in the tank in inches? ~ 11 inches
DOC level estimate? Unsure, if I had to guess, high due to overstocking and major overfeeding.
Do you skim? Yes
Do you run carbon? Yes, just a few tbs, passively in a sock.
Do you run GFO? No, I use macroalgae
Did you ever freshwater dipped the clam? No
Are you seeing new growth? Yes
Calcium/Alk Method? BRS ca/alk
Where and when did you get it? Aug 17th, originated from Pacific East Aquaculture
Do you purposely feed? No

Most importantly !!!!! Water changing schedual ???? 4g every couple weeks whenever I get around to it

Got nitrates ??? 10-15

Should also be noted, I use bio-pellets as part of my filtration.

UPDATE 05/11/2013:

Maxima is just getting in its 4th level of new scutes. Has been doing quite well, and has lost some blue and become much more gold since originally purchased. Continues to have a fantastic response/reaction to light. Placement is still at the bottom of the 20H near the front pane of glass; it seems to be content on staying there and has had its byssal threads attached since I originally posted him into this log.

Yea baby!!! That's what I'm talking about! Sweet clams!! I apologize for my hiatus, I have been limited to phone posting, but that will be resolved as soon as Santa gets his fat butt over here.

I'm looking forward to updating the registry, and have ELEVEN new clams of my own to add. 1 crocea, I Squamosa, and 9 Maximas. I have PEA on speed dial!

In the next week or so Pacific East Aquaculture will be posting something we have not seen in almost a decade. Red Sea Maximas. Everyone knows that Anything pulled from the Red Sea is always top TOP shelf. They arrived this morning and are in stock. also large 5-6 inch Polynesian Maximas will be posted the first week of January.

My goodness, when you put 'em all together (instead of just 1 like most of us) it takes it to a whole other level!!!

Awesome Zeph! If you think you have too many, I can house one for ya! ;)
