THE OFFICIAL TRIDACNID CLAM THREAD

I got it from Liveaquaria. I'm getting plenty of extension now, well past the scutes.

I don't think I will need to do any feedings as my tank is somewhat dirty due to the recent scape and removal of LR. What should I watch out for in terms of figuring out if it's not getting enough "food"?

Gaping for one thing. If it stars opening its mouth wider than usual its hungry. They like a little nitrates too.

I should be good to go then. My tank is likely to stay fairly dirty for a while now.

Tridacnids are naughty little girls, they like it dirty. lol.

I am dying to add a mated pair of exotic clownfish to my clam sanctuary, if not only just to beef up the nutrient level, but I dont want them to host any of the clams, which they most likely would, which would drive me crazy.

I would love a nice red or blue carpet, but with the halides they would grow to like a FOOT and we cant have that in a 40B.

What to do....??? What to do....???

Solution? Purple tip Ausie Elegance coral !!! THey wont walk around the tank either.

... Soooooo... Uhm... Where has the clam cave thread gone....nudge nudge pics cough cough

Lol !!!! My big tanks are undergoing major..MAJOR renovations in order to move Big Bertha from the 125 to the 210. Ive emptied out nearly all the rocks and am waiting for my black sand to arrive. Once I add the black sand and BiG Bertha I will post some pics

Now what Ive been spending all my money on is the 40Breader Clam sanctuary. This is my pet project at the moment and since its a Nano I will be showing alot of it here.

I think i will just stick with this thread for a while, of course if something comes up on the other one i will respond.

There's no green on her at all in person, on camera or not.

Thats the only problem i have with Divers Den - slight mis representation. Still a Grade A clam though, very nice.

You're kidding??

That's not slight mis-representation, that's a lot of mis-representation! I agree with zeph, definately a top notch crocea!

Agreed. That is no where near a SLIGHT misrepresentation.

How long should I have my clam before I have to register?

If you have it, register it !!! But if it should perish some day be sure to let me know as well.

I'm so sorry that I never answered your question about keeping acropora with my blue crocea clam in the tank with high phosphates! This clam registry thread is so big that for me who is forum challenged, I didn't realize that you posted another question. Anyway, the answer is no. In fact I don't have any SPS. I suspect that they wouldn't fare so well although I've been tempted to try a bird's nest.
