It was $85, but still hurts in the heart and wallet. I called my guy that ordered the fish for me and he said he could work out a deal for a new one or another fish in his store at wholesale cost. If I take the risk again I might even use liveaquaria so I have a 2 week guarantee. Its funny that you mentioned the story about your pair, as the store owner shared a very similar story about having a pair for a long time and when 1 died the second died a day or two later for almost no reason. Scorched
Did ypu ever figure out your drains? Small holes in the elbows at the bulkheads with rigid airline tubing will allow air to enter easier to that the water sprials the wall of the drain pipe. Also where the pipes exit into the sump there needs to be some sort of air gap for the air to escape otherwise it will back up slowing the flow because the water has to creatw enough pressure to push out the trapped air I never ended up putting holes or airline tubing in my drain elbows. I however did increase my draining speed by stuffing my filter sock with polyfill. It causes the water to completely fill the drains rather than just flowing down the sides. Similar to the way a siphon system works but it is still just gravity. It has also polished my water even more and removes so much gunk. I change the polyfill about every 3-4 days. Usually a Tuesday and Friday. Quote Link to comment
1reefluvr2
Are you having good luck with acros? On sidenote get some blue dragon gobies they make a sweet display a pair if you could get them or a pair of firefish gobies, maybe a pair of sebra dart fish they really color up when they are under LED's thats for sure. I used to lose them left and right, as of about Oct I've had a more stable time and nothing has died since. The coloration could still be better. I have a red planet that is turning a little brown but the flesh seems really thick and hearty. I also got an ora frogskin or gecko frag from someone and in their tank is was a pale sight, now its getting a thick green shimmer. So some do better than others. As for the fish I still really want a Helfrichi Firefish, and if I ever do it again it will be one that I see in a LFS that has been for for multiple days, or is ordered from LiveAquaria so I have a 14 day guarantee. The one I ordered with Murray was just delivered and still in the bag from Quality Marine. The red firefish might also be a good choice and they are considerable cheaper. Quote Link to comment

Scorched
I haven't had any more Montipora Eating Nudis on my encrusting piece of the Orange Digi so I bought some cooler pieces today from a local club member. We both work downtown so meeting him for lunch and the pickup was super easy. Way easier than leaving work at 5-6pm, driving out to the burbs for a fish store or someones house for a frag, drive back to work, acclimate and dip, enjoy it for a few minutes and then drive home around 8pm. 1 Quote Link to comment
InvaderJim
Wow the tank looks amazing. Love your minimalist approach on the hardware so that nothing distracts you from whats in the tank. Quote Link to comment
Scorched
Wow the tank looks amazing. Love your minimalist approach on the hardware so that nothing distracts you from whats in the tank. Thanks InvaderJim!! That was my main thinking behind the design from day 1. The tank is about the corals and fish, and everything else shouldn't distract you from enjoying them. Quote Link to comment

Scorched
Updated FTS with the new montis - crossing my fingers that the nudis have all died of starvation after a few months. Red/Orange monti on top right (It was really large so it was broken into 3 pieces, the other two are on the back and front left island. The other is a purple undata on the middle island. And the last is a setosa on the left island mounted on the edge. And only blue LEDsDoes anyone know of another truly orange glowing coral (coloration like my acan on the right) that I could add to the tank. I've been eyeing the orange torch at SWE but at over $100 I can't quite pull the trigger.Or are there any corals that would be a glowing yellow under LEDs? Not interested in zoas or softies on either coral color. 1 Quote Link to comment

I was just about to say this tank needed some zoo colonies.... You can find some scolys, wellso's, plates that are those colors probably. Not sure what else, more acans is the easiest answer.. The scolys and plates I've kind of nixed as I want to keep my sand bed completely clean (maybe a clam) but that would be it. I think more acan is the best answer too. Anyone else have other ideas? I might have seen a store sell a tiny tiny frag of this coral which would be awesome http://reefbuilders.com/2011/11/21/orange-leptoseris-coral/ Quote Link to comment
