Back from hunting... no moose this year...

Came back to a cyano problem, it was hurting a zoa frag. I have a manual removal job to do.

Complete testing is also due.

Glass clean-up is due but the good news is that I have thousands of tisbe pods. My girlfriend overdosed phyto while I was gone.

Canope is now removed. Egg crates are in place and fit perfectly. Hydra's flex arm are in place.

The top looks good.  Sorry you couldn't kill Bullwinkle this year.

I feel that it's awfully hard to overdose phyto.  Cyano is likely the result of dosing carbon.

Regarding the phyto the "overdose" might not be the right word, she dosed 700ml over 5 days. I think it explains the tisbe pods bloom.

I thought cyano was the result of high nitrate?

Probably not.  People always point to high nutrients as the cause of cyano; but it's usually organics and/or bacterial imbalances.  Cyano is a commonly reported side effect of carbon dosing.

How did you miss a moose?

I did not, I just did not see any because of the wind due to Fiona hurricane...

The moose don't travel in high winds because they cannot hear.

No3 24.4 (will resume dosing NoPox)

Po4 0.03 (dosed NeoPhost)

dKH 10.4

Bought some corals for not much (not from a store) so I got a 7 heads hammer, 5 heads of candy cane and a Kenya tree.

The LTA moved and is now in the back with the clowns

Sounds a lot easier than water changes.

The UV should take care of it.  But it'll probably take twice as long as before.

So I'm going to be in Toronto for the rest of the week, do I keep dosing NoPox? Stop and go the water change way next weekend?

I've never really embraced carbon dosing.  But stopping and starting over and over isn't ideal.

Careful, the airstone will cause a bunch of .

Found this, many people says to just reduce the NoPox dose, other to stop while the bloom is occuring.

What will the airstone cause?

Salt creep is a name for the salt buildup around your tank.  When bubbles pop, they splash a small bit of saltwater.  It doesn't take that long  before you'll have a mess.

Emerald crab died last night.

Sorry.

Are you sure that it wasn't just the molt, was there any meat in its shell?

Oh right, I did not think about it... I guess I'll know if I see it again!

  • Kindanewtothis changed the title to Kinda's Large Tank Adventure (LTA) - LTA in pump...
Kindanewtothis

It moved a week ago and was now in the back. Came back last night from a work trip and it was still in the back. This morning it was in the pump.

I think it is attached to a rock now. Some say they recover and even fast. We'll see...

LTA moved out from the hole it went in and doesn't seems so bad this morning. Can't wait to see how it is with the lights on.

No NoPox since 2022-09-22. The bacterial bloom is cleared. Will not be dosing it again, I'm going the regular water changes way... more work but easier and I suppose also better for all that it replenish.

No3 24.9

Po4 0.10

dKH 10.4

Ca and Mg will follow.
