Direct flow seems to strip the things 😄 All my flow in my old Monti tank (and there was shit loads!) was indirect and deflected of a bare rock area or the side of the tank, which appeared to give awesome random flow and LOTS of it! 2 Quote Link to comment

Ratvan
Morning All, have a good weekend? Good good good. Tank has survived another weekend alone, barely had any evaporation over this time and only had to add a small cup of RODI to the tank. Finally starting to see some film algae on the glass which is reassuring. Not that you can see this in the photograph below.... The Rocky Road Montipora doesn't seem to be too bad, no more tissue loss The Encrusting Monti is looking a bit pale, not sure what I can actually do with that, maybe try and get it going in the RSM? Cant really raise it up too much in here. Water Change and will try and fix the frags today I think 4 Quote Link to comment
Ratvan
So as I say, no further damage to the frag, still looks good and can spot loads of individual Polyps Green Digi Pumpkin Pie - This needs to hurry up and colour Encrusting Monti looks different, almost like covered in Wax 6 Quote Link to comment
A.m.P
When my mystic sunset looked waxy it was dying, I do not know exactly why since there was a ton going on in the tank at the time but it seemed to precede a bacterial-infection. Hopefully a coincidence since there was allot going on at the time lol, I did find something kind of cool, branching appleberry monti and monti lantana are pretty interesting morphs. 1 Quote Link to comment

Thanks, I've decided to try more flow. Sadly this means the RSM as I just dont have the space for it in the Fluval and I forgot all my Fragging tools at home, except the 16lb sledgehammer. Oh just googled that Lantana 😱 WOW!! So I got a little impatient and angled the Pumpkin Pie Montipora a little differently. Within 5 minutes Polyps are out more and colouring up, can just about see a Lime Colour on the main base Spinel getting a bit miffed with all the attention on his tank 3 1 Quote Link to comment
Ratvan
So not a lot to report today really, I decided that the Pumpkin Pie Montipora wanted more light, so I quickly smashed together another shitty frag rack, starting to see some really subtle Lime Green tones in the Polyps now which is reassuring (oh and Spinel leaving his Cave in the background) Other two Monti's are doing well. The Skeleton is still white and have seen no algae growing on it, yet. Will keep my eye on it, might have to Frag it to try and save the area's above and below the damage. 🤷♂️ A couple of Shots of Spinel, really love this vicious little Devil 😍 He's bitten me a few times today lol 1 3 Quote Link to comment
ef4life
Fish bites are fun 😂 Fish are so funny with their different personalities, over the years I’ve had a clownfish I could hand feed, some that just chill and pay no mind to you at all, and 2 devils that are always biting every time you put a hand in the tank - I believe the breeder was experimenting with piranha dna with those 2. 4 Quote Link to comment

Every time you put your hand in the tank you are just rolling the dice with how many little bleeding chunks of flesh will be missing from your forearms by the time you take it out. 4 Quote Link to comment
A.m.P
Lol, all my damsels and clowns hide from me whenever I'm in the tank, that's probably not a great sign XD You got a spunky one Quote Link to comment

Ratvan
So I am assuming that this is a bacterial infection? Dip and Frag? 4 Quote Link to comment
Thrassian Atoll
I would definitely dip and cut. Hopefully a part of it survives. I had to dip and cut my Jedi mind trick last week. Half of it RTNed randomly. Only thing too. But chopping off the dead part and dipping it saved it for sure. It’s almost encrusting on the rock again. 1 1 Quote Link to comment

debbeach13
And one day you just decided to start using a common household antiseptic on coral. That was pretty brave. You have big brass ones. 2 Quote Link to comment

debbeach13
I agree in fact I was going to mention someone did it with Bayers. Peroxide is safe to clean abrasions and cuts on humans so to me that was not much of a stretch. Still to go and try a new one is risky. I just glad it didn't nuke the corals. 3 Quote Link to comment
