Ratvan
Hmmmm seems my numbers (apart from temp) of the RSM and the Fluval Spec 3 seem to match. This is useful since the Spec is tiny RSM Temperature 74F/24C Salinity 1.024 PH 7.8 Alk 8 DKH NH3 0 NO2 0 NO3 1 PO4 0.2 Calcium 420 Mag 1300 Spec 3 Temperature 77F/24C Salinity 1.024 PH 7.8 Alk 8 DKH NH3 0 NO2 0 NO3 1 PO4 0.2 Calcium 420 Mag 1300 Will be collecting some more frags tomorrow for the Spec. So excited for the Montipora sticks 3 Quote Link to comment
Ratvan
I know these are not Montipora but these images give an idea of what i'm going for, yeah I planned everything around a cheap fish 😄 I hope the Digitata's and Branching Monti's give me an equivalent look 6 Quote Link to comment

In the lower light tank it tends to grow longer and thinner branches spaced out to get more light, also branching Monti has wider and thicker stems usually, so less swimming space for our little fish friend. Totally agree on cost....... get it because you love it or want to keep it....... not because it has a fancy name or is “rare”. I have spent £5-10 on fish that I loved, but I have also spent £££’s on a fish I really always wanted. its the rich-kid-club that must have the latest and best piece of equipment! Yes I have to say it, but a lot of the cheaper things with less “gadget” functions actually do the job much better! 2 Quote Link to comment
Ratvan
Delivery! Warming up in the RSM before the Dettol Dip, look decent considering they just come out the box. ALso noticed they've been shipped with what I think is a couple of carbon granules in the bag with each frag Terribad Photo of the Rocky Road Monti Green Digitata Pumpkin pie Also threw together a quick frag rack for these and other new additions 8 Quote Link to comment
Ratvan
So the quick Dettol dip is completed and frags now on the tiny rack in the tiny tank Spinel checking out the new additions Rocky Road Montipora Green Digi Pumpkin Pie (hurry up and open) 6 Quote Link to comment

SaltyGallon
Nice mate! Where did you order from? I got a green "rocky road" from MailOrderCorals just like that a couple of weeks ago and it's growing really well - I think it's proper name is Montipora hirsuta - the growth pattern is cool. You'll have to keep an eye out for the normal red digis and forest fire/bubble gum varieties too, seen frags in a few LFS' recently 🙂 2 Quote Link to comment

Join Ultimate Reef and trawl the Classifieds! Can get free frags, breakdowns, cheaper and larger frags etc These came from a Reefer in Knaresborough (Harrogate) about 12 miles north of me. I know that the Rocky Road is an Branching type I just cant decide what, I dont think it's a Hirsuta but couldn't tell you why. The Hirsuta for me is both Branching and Plating. This looks to just be just Branching. Like I said could be wrong, just my initial reactions Next additions are going to be from a Girl in Huddersfield, will be picking up these at the end of the month Appleberry Monti Forest Fire Monti German Blue Monti Digitata Montipora Hirsuta Then will order the remaining frags from a couple of sources. Mail Order Corals JBS Marines (sponsoring me currently, need to get on instagram soon or they'll back out lol) Zoamarines The Coral Centre Odyssey Corals 3 Quote Link to comment

Also no one seems to want to post anything except Zoas and Macro on that site Quote Link to comment

Brits are just too tight to chance it, I reckon! 2 Quote Link to comment
Ratvan
Well my luck with SPS Corals continues. I left one (Rocky Road Montipora) in front of the power head again 🤦♂️ So seems I have made a small area of damage where I have blown the Polyps clean off the Frags..... however when lights come on it still has good colour and Polyp extension so I need to be a little more careful when I'm positioning the frags, maybe cut out the damaged middle section and fix to the rockwall? 1 1 Quote Link to comment

It'll be fine, I have already fragged these for a back up before adding them to the Pico. Will give them a iodine dip before I mount them on the wall Will be shopping for the RSM today Quote Link to comment
A.m.P
It's hard to tell whether a monti is getting too much flow ime, I still haven't a knack for it at-all honestly. All I know is that the claims of "never too much flow" and "monti's will take what acro's love" seem to be from folks who don't watch the bubbles in their tanks. Quote Link to comment

I mean yeah I feel that's true for indirect flow. Direct flow seems to strip the things 😄 1 Quote Link to comment
