Ratvan
Still waiting on my lights to come on, but the Montipora is throwing out some serious Polyp Extension already, due to this I have decided to pull the trigger on some more Montipora frags from Reefers nearby, going to try and throw as much colour into this tank as possible so starting off with Greens. "Pumpkin Pie" Montipora - Plating Monti £5.00 "Rocky Road" Montipora - Branching Montipora £7.00 Green Montipora Digitata £8.00 So total for the additions is £20.00 with the Damsel and Encrusting Monti that puts the Monthly Cost of the tank at £30.00 for the month. Bang on budget 1 Quote Link to comment

debbeach13
Does this mean the back up power system worked well all weekend? 1 Quote Link to comment
Tempestas
That combination is going to look quite sweet 1 Quote Link to comment

Yes, I managed to run the heaters and returns on both the RSM and the Fluval Spec 3. Small fluctuations in temperature but nothing worth worrying about IMO (dropped 1f). So I have been sat here thinking that my lights should be on by now, only to realise that the programme i had set was for my home reef, which means doesn't start until 2pm and ramps off at 11pm so I could enjoy the reef at home in the evenings. So now 9am start, full power at 12pm for 4 hours and ramp down. I have moved the powerhead/display pump down a bit too so now I don't Tsunami all the water out the tank, also Spinel out for a wander One of Spinel's haunts, this fish loves hanging in this cave/overhang Dafuq you looking at? Seems someone has been nibbling the Ulva as well. Also decided to remove the duckbill on the return, I felt like I was losing too much flow from this and the lack of direction is not too big of a deal with the additional (and only) piece of DT equipment 4 Quote Link to comment
A.m.P
One thing I've noticed, people are changing springers damselfish to "peaceful" or "community" from semi-aggressive, however a few distributors are also mentioning that they "may become aggressive to sessile inverts". But I love them, chillest damselfish by far, they almost just laze-about like clownfish all day in front of their little caves. Oh and I'm quite jealous of your oncoming monti collection and selection, not to mention the prices. 1 Quote Link to comment

Thank you, I have been forcing my way into teh local reefing scene, taken nearly a year but finally have a decent selection of reefers growing and trading different corals. Sadly just a bit too for north for the best selection 1 Quote Link to comment
A.m.P
Technically corals are sessile inverts as well, but the insinuation is usually clams and worms. Our little springer would grab dwarf ceriths in it's mouth and spit them back outside its' den though lol, not sure if that counts as aggressive XD 1 1 Quote Link to comment

Might do that for the RSM Thats cool. I'm getting these from 3 Reefers near me. SO hopefully hardier and definitely cheaper 😄 Plus I don't have to pay postage 1 Quote Link to comment

Fire digi needs plenty of light to not brown out I have found, where as the blue can tolerate less and still keep its colour... in fact I had the blue lighten up a bit too much with high light. 1 1 Quote Link to comment

I had a Monti dominated tank (posi and stylo as well for the shape) about 7 years ago and it was my favourite! You get really nice colour’s, it’s more forgiving than a lot of SPS and so many different growth patterns. The only problem is once you have nailed it the f#*ker grows too quick and shadows all the bottom of the tank out! Get ready to Frag!! 2 Quote Link to comment

Intl shipping is a shitshow, unless you're Dutch apparently, got a whole bunch of samplers from a store out there shipped across the puddle to introduce a mate to scotch for less than a single bloody bottle of the stuff. 1 Quote Link to comment
