ReefWeeds
Re bubble algae, read a thread on rc last night on different methods - one was to fill an insulin or other small syringe w/ needle with hydrogen peroxide and inject the bubbles. Since I only have one - that I know of - at the moment in the 10, going to try it. I might just try that myself! Link to comment
Newstead
If you need insulin syringes/needles, just let me know. Our dear departed Sydney cat was diabetic, still have dozens left. Link to comment

We actually have a bunch also from a cat that is no longer with us We donated a bunch of insulin and needles and such to the local pet shelter but then found a bunch more. Link to comment

Hopefully I can get one without buying a pack of 50 Edit: I found a 10 pack for $6.50, not bad at all. I only have a couple bubbles but they always come back after I siphon them out. http://www.amazon.com/Duda-Energy-Syringepk001-Industrial-Syringes/dp/B00NDETMR2/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1454732972&sr=8-14&keywords=insulin+syringes+with+needle Link to comment
HarryPotter
I recommend just lowering nutrients and sucking the bubble algae out without popping them. Link to comment
ReefWeeds
I recommend just lowering nutrients and sucking the bubble algae out without popping them. If i bring phosphates too low, my corals start to suffer. If I bring nitrates below 5, they suffer. Same with the macros. So I'll suck them out. They're not on the rocks, they're on the frag plugs mostly and a couple bubbles here and there. I don't have an SPS heavy tank so low nutrients is not what I'm shooting for. Link to comment
D3monic
Goodluck. I let my tank go for too long and HA and Bubble algae have taken over. Going to pick up a emerald crab soon. Hopefully it doesn't mess with my new macros. Link to comment

Hopefully it doesn't mess with my new macros. I'd say go with a mexican turbo for the HA, but my mexican turbos demolished all the macros I had in my DT - along with all the HA Good luck with the emerald! Bubble algae thrives in a low nutrient tank, as then it has less competition. I figured if I can't grow caulerpa in my main tank because I don't have a steady enough stream of nutrients for it to thrive, lowering nutrients even more by feeding less wouldn't be a good idea. with the tank transfer, i lost a bunch of softies due to lower nutrients etc. Link to comment

ReefWeeds
Yesterday we ended up getting quite a bit of really heavy snow. Here are a few photos: Side patio lights: The snow was so heavy, our birch tree started to bend The sky was really cool once the storm moved out. There were really dark clouds in the east, but the sun was coming in from the west: Link to comment

ReefWeeds
Let's see some nudies! I haven't seen them! I stalked the tank a bit last night, but didn't see sign of them. You think my cleaner shrimp could've eaten them or they're just motoring around in crevices somewhere? Link to comment
Sk8n Reefer
OH NOOOOOO! On the 50? Ya, strangely- my skimmer pump also went down same time. ?. My GFI didn't trip, outlet strop is still working. We took the pump out and cleaned it- the water inlets were pretty covered so hopefully that's all it is. I'll check shortly. Probably pick up a new one just in case. The gyre is working so circulation is still going on and I pulled the heater out of the return and placed it in the tank. Link to comment

You think my cleaner shrimp could've eaten them or they're just motoring around in crevices somewhere? Hmm, possibly. But I bet they are just being careful at this point. I saw a few for a few seconds the first night or two......then never for about 3 weeks. I thought the we're snacked on. Then, they were everywhere night and day....they were taking down aiptasia the size of Palm trees....like 4 or 5 nudies dog piling them. Got to be so many they would just free float around the tank. Some ended up in the sump.....which turned into like 50 in the sump and hundreds in my DT. They're probably fine. Now you just wait.......look for patches of no aiptasia. Link to comment

The way I knew they were alive.....I walked past my tank and out of the corner of my eye saw a spot about the size of a dime that was aiptasia-free. There probably digesting and fornicating right now. They're like slug-blunnies. Link to comment
