I ordered from them once and did not like their lack of shipping communication... Haha yeah as I said he can be frustrating, this isn't my first order from him I have ordered several times over the years. In my opinion his corals are worth the extra headache of bad communication:) 1 Quote Link to comment

jstuver
Thought I would post some pics from our trip my husband and I took for our 19th wedding anniversary back in Spetember. We started in San Francisco and then drove down and stayed in Monterey Bay(I didn't want to leave), it was beautiful and the aquarium was pretty cool too. We will start with some shots from San Fran: DSC07214 by jlstuver, on Flickr DSC07206 by jlstuver, on Flickr DSC07223 by jlstuver, on Flickr DSC07331 by jlstuver, on Flickr DSC07342-2 by jlstuver, on Flickr Next up some shots of the area around Monterey Bay: DSC07421 by jlstuver, on Flickr DSC07466 by jlstuver, on Flickr DSC07512 by jlstuver, on Flickr DSC07520 by jlstuver, on Flickr DSC07533 by jlstuver, on Flickr 7 Quote Link to comment

Next time you have to check out the tidal pools by Half Moon Bay. Durng low tide, you can check out some amazing stuff. This was my first time there! I had always wanted to go there and was so happy I finally made it! The roads were a bit much for me and the traffic but still very cool place I really liked the vibe. I hope I can make it back again someday. 2 Quote Link to comment

gena
Follow him on Facebook is the best way, he posts albums of his stuff he has for sale there before it goes to his website. He does still have one available though, it's not as nice as the rest I've seen but it's still nice. http://www.rarereef.com/rare-coral/product_info.php?products_id=16541 This is the one coming my way on Tuesday:) I've been spending my free time on FB but looking at crested geckos and not reef stuff LOL. But I'll check it out since I'm on there quite a bit now. That ricordea rock is incredible . It's going to look fantastic in your tank! Quote Link to comment
jstuver
Beautiful shots from the aquarium. May I ask what camera you are using? Hey I use a Sony A7 all these were shot with my 55mm lens I do believe. Thanks! 1 Quote Link to comment
RollaJase
Hey I use a Sony A7 all these were shot with my 55mm lens I do believe. Thanks! Ah ok, the A7 is a great camera. I almost went that way but seeing as I already had a Panasonic with a few lenses it just ended up being easier buying a new Panasonic body. Quote Link to comment

Yeah I bought it a few years ago and moved away from Canon and Nikon with the big clunky cameras and haven't looked back. I don't think I've ever loved a camera more and I've been doing photography for 20+ years. 2 Quote Link to comment
RollaJase
Yeah I bought it a few years ago and moved away from Canon and Nikon with the big clunky cameras and haven't looked back. I don't think I've ever loved a camera more and I've been doing photography for 20+ years. I've used M4/3 cameras since Panasonic released the GF1 and have been hooked on that size ever since. If I had to carry around a full bodied DSLR I would probably newer take photos lol. I ended up settling with the lumix GX7 as an upgrade but almost went down the A7 or OM-D route. jstuver
Last night I caught my small emerald crab literally ripping tentacles out of my Duncan coral! Luckily my Duncan is attached to a small piece of rock so I could just lift it out and catch the crab who is now banished to my sump! And on another note Rare Reef forgot I was one of the people he needed to ship out yesterday and said he'd ship today but still didn't. I'm hoping my box of goodies will still get shipped this week but we will see. Also ordered a restock of snails from reef cleaners that shipped today so those will be here in a couple days:) Quote Link to comment
jstuver
Had two packages arrive today, my reef cleaners order and my Rare Reef order!! I think Rare Reef uses LED so his stuff always looks more pink than what it does in my tank but I still love my stuff. I'll get pics as soon as I decide on where they all get to be placed. The clam I got is at least 6-7" and gorgeous but it's mouth is wide open at the moment so I'm hoping it's just stressed from shipping and will recover. I forgot to take a pic of all the rare reef goodies but here's a pic of the insane amount of snails John sent! 3 Quote Link to comment
jstuver
Okay new pics of the new coral from Rare Reef, I think he uses LED so his pics are always a bit more pink toned. However I asked if the wall octospawn was pink and he said yes so I don't know if I got sent the wrong one or what but this one is very blue. Either way i still like it:) Wall Octospawn DSC01856 by jlstuver, on Flickr DSC01850 by jlstuver, on Flickr Blue hammer DSC01877 by jlstuver, on Flickr DSC01868 by jlstuver, on Flickr Short tentacle gold wall torch DSC01851 by jlstuver, on Flickr DSC01874 by jlstuver, on Flickr DSC01866 by jlstuver, on Flickr Florida Ricordia Rock DSC01897 by jlstuver, on Flickr DSC01849 by jlstuver, on Flickr Tiny clam, my large clam died the day after delivery but this guy is going strong DSC01916 by jlstuver, on Flickr Aside from that order I picked up a gold torch and an awesome teal branching hammer over the last couple weeks: Teal branching hammer DSC01848 by jlstuver, on Flickr DSC01855 by jlstuver, on Flickr Gold torch DSC01852 by jlstuver, on Flickr DSC01879 by jlstuver, on Flickr I will post a few more pics of various corals later and a new full tank shot as soon as I have everything placed where I want it:) 6 Quote Link to comment
