So,how much is something going to be that's 2 strips like that ? Say if you don't need a controller and drivers, just the housing, sinks and strips ? Also, what's the length on that thing ?

So that is sick looking Dave, very nicely done! My question is was that the 12" version? Would the 24" one be 4 of those strips? Super excited to see these develop and have one but probably a pair over my tank!

Dave,

Thought you said these were blue/white only...but did I spy two lime greens in the pic you posted over your FW tank?

Busted, Dude! :ninja:

BTW my Eco is the bomb and it saved my tank...thanks again.

Wait, you're offering one of those for only $30 or are the individual strips (no case) $30?

I'm assuming just the 6up strip is $30. Shit,if that was the case id buy 2 tomorrow lol.

This product is making me so excited. Here are a few teasers from my personal tank. Excuse the dirt!

This is the FW/FUGE BEAM.

Ohhh man now I definitely want a small lil rockwork planted tank now! .....Great, now I'm back on the idea of 2x IM Fusion 10's and 1x IM Fusion 20, with the 20 being saltwater.... Those lights are GORGEOUS!

How would this compare to a Reefbrite xho actinic fixture? I'm in the market for a 24" actinic fixture that I can retrofit into my wooden canopy. Would your 24" unit work?

It sure will and should be much better than your XHO. The LEDs used in the BEAM are the same as the NBR line.

Thanks Dave. Do you know when the 24" strip will be available? Btw, what is the NBR line?

NBR line is "NanoBox Reef Line" of lights such as the mini tide, duo, quad, and hybrid

Technical question: I have a NanoCube 24 with a NanoCube 28 LED Pro hood. The hood has 5 strips of 5x3w LEDs (CW I assume). The 5 strips are run in parallel. Four of my strips have burnt out bulbs and are done, so I am currently only running on one strip of five 3W bulbs.

Can I replace these stock strips with these NanoBox Beam LED strips? Do I need all the same type or could I mix 2 actinic in with one fuge/fresh strip? I would just throw out the remaining JBJ LED strip as I assume that mixing Beam strips with JBJ strips would create too much load imbalance.

FWIW, I believe the system is 24v.

Thoughts from Dave or any of the LED specialists here?

No, you cannot do a direct swap. The stock strips are driven with a constant voltage power supply, which is not the 'proper' way to do it. If you tried to push 24v through six LEDs, they'd be at 4v each and would want to pull several amps and would destroy the LEDs instantly.

This JBJ setup really frustrates me. Ah well.

So then, I want to keep the JBJ hood, which leaves me with a retro kit. The tank inner dimensions are roughly 17" wide and 13" deep (front to back depth, not top to bottom). If I go cheap and get a single array NanoBox retro (small), I'm guessing I'm not going to get the spread and have a lot of shadows, so that leaves me with having to drop another $100 and get the large, dual array.

Or can I retro a hood with a single array and still get good coverage in a 13 x 17" area? What beam angles do Dave's LEDs have?

If you don't plan on a full SPS tank, then a single array will give the coverage you need. Being so close to the water is the main issue with spread (SPS want light coming in from more than one angle for best coloration across them), you'll have plenty of power even from a single array.
