Thanks! I think temperature and salt choice makes a difference. Currently running my tank cooler than usual after upgrading my bedroom's A/C, and switched over to RSCP. (Although Fritz was more than enough for this system as well). 🙂

Hi, NR. Just wanted to drop by and say that I'll slowly be transitioning over to Insta (fully) for tank updates. If ever this journal is updated in the future, it'll be sporadic from here on out.

I won't be posting all the pics on here except any main updates. Most of it will be on Insta from here on out. 

 

But just wanted to share - a small miracle happened yesterday. I actually got through my LFS early morning, and they responded rather quickly. After trading messages back and forth, and paying a delivery fee, a third-party courier dropped these guys on my doorstep! 🥰

 

 

 

 

 

I was beyond happy. Finally have a reason to keep on reefing again - because my interest was dwindling after I was cut off from the store. 😔

 

The clown accidently rubbed against my rainbow brain, so she has a mark on one side. I thought of naming her Kimchi. 😅

I used to have a purple one in this nano sometime back and it was a very beautiful fish. They're pricey though. But I really loved the color and personality (peaceful), so I decided to get another one again.

Thanks, Deb. I miss talking to you guys. I'm still active on Instagram, but I admit that most of the time it's swamped with pics of my other animals and plants rather than my nano. I just happen to love my turtles a lot. Would love to share them on here, but it's seems off-topic, so it's not appropriate for the forum, unfortunately. 😞

The off-topic lounge threads are some of the busiest.  Also found here on nano reef are freshwater tanks, large reefs, gardening, and plenty of other pets - I see dogs, cats, birds, snakes, the list is pretty long. But I get there is only a certain amount of time to post on the internet.

Yeah, I peeked - it does have a random mix of threads going in there. I found it much, much easier to stick to posting in FB & Insta though. Posting less on NR was actually quite relaxing for me.

I think because activity did slow down quite a fair bit towards the tail-end of 2023. There were less and less new posts - especially by newcomers. I remember a time when there was an influx of posts requesting setup and stocking help that balanced out the journal threads very nicely on the front page. It's strange because I think more people are actually dipping their fingers into this hobby than before, so technically we should have more posts, questions, new journal threads etc. 🤔

 

Also, the loss of TOTM was a huge blow. I used to look forward to the monthly TOTM posts because I tried my best to learn from the success and mistakes of others, and see if I could employ better techniques to keep my reef going/thriving long-term. I admit I also loved, loved looking at all the TOTM pics - I'm more of a visual learner, so visuals help me pick up on things quicker. Even in my own personal animal-keeping at home, I pay more attention to the animals themselves based on what I see, before checking on the parameters of the setup etc. 

 

I truly wish the TOTM would come back though. Several members have volunteered to keep it going somehow, but I'm unsure if it'll ever be featured again. 😞
