####### Fatass Challenge

I'm not really looking to lose weight, but I'll tag along here for the ride and maybe bring you guys a little inspiration when you need it.

About 6 years ago, shortly after our second child arrived, My wife took a picture of me playing with my son on the trampoline. It was sumertime and I didn't have a shirt on. At first glance I thought to myself, Who's that fat guy jumping on the trampoline with my kid?

I decided right there it was time to get off my ass and get back into shape. I was a college swimmer once upon a time and figured that would be the best way to jump start a weight loss program. About the same time my bookkeeper and I were talking about her signing up for a team Sprint triathlon. She was going to do the running leg, her husband was going to bike, they were just looking for a swimmer. I thought that this would be a great way to hold myself accountable and keep motivated so I signed up with them.

Three weeks in to the training, our biker had a crash and hurt himself to where he couldn't continue the training. I was feeling pretty good with how things were progressing with my training so I figured why not do both legs of the race. After all it was only a 500 yard swim and 12 mile bike. A week after that our runner blew out her knee falling off her high heels (Pay attention Miss Kat). Guess what I did. Yep, took over the run portion too.

That was my first venture into triathlon. I dropped the 20+ pounds of belly fat I was looking to lose and I was hooked. That summer I competed in 4 races, two sprint (the shortest distance) an olympic distance, and a half Ironman (1500 meter swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run). Since then I have done about 20 triathlons of all distances, about 30 running races from 5k up to 50 miles. I am currently training for my 6th marathon. If I can be of any help to anyone planning a race or just setting fitness goals I would love to help.[/quotes] that sounds like one of those "as seen on TV" turnarounds. Very good!

A picture was posted at work on a bulletin board during some team building thing and I thought the same thing. It was a picture of us from behind and I thought "whos that fat bald guy next to my boss" and then it hit me. I didn't know I was THAT fat or THAT BALD. It was a shitty work day.

Taking selfies with the BF and at the wrong angle I have a double chin. :tears:

Picked up some mango chunks for my snack. And thankfully it's not raining so I will get to go on my hour long walk at lunch again today!

Is it too late for me to sign up as well?

Because I'd love to join in for motivation's sake.

I used to be 41kg, but I received a really bad, life-changing health diagnosis about two years back. Long story short, I suffered further complications and was pumped up with tons of meds including steroids and that caused a severe imbalance. My body bloated to a hideous 75kg within months, and my doctor seems unapologetic because, 'the pros outweighs the cons'. Been struggling to keep shedding off the kgs, but it's been a nightmare since I'm no longer fit. I actually miss my abs.

But I want to start running again once my right knee fully heals up (just a sprain) and am hoping to lose at least 5kg to 7kg per month via exercise and controlled diets.

It's so nice to see people actually taking care of their health on here.

Doesn't everyone, Kimber? I detest taking "selfies" and actually find it a depressing commentary on our society that we *actually* have the word "selfie" now defined in the dictionary. It's a complete shout out to how self-involved and preoccupied our society is with image. Off my soap box now.

I used to be 41kg...

41kg sounds too thin. But you're right, it should be more about health than weight. Stick with it and I'm sure that you can improve your fitness level and shed some of those excess kilograms.

So I didn't make it to the VA yesterday because my wife ran WAY over in her class, so that blows. But I'll try and get weighed in this evening after work.

I haven't eaten yet, but I'm looking at lunch options now.
