My 20 Long Journey

I can't say it enough....SO Beautiful!!!!! I love this so much!!!!

I need to look into Phoslock. How do you use it?

I bought a mesh bag that fits exactly the dementions inside my Aqua Clear 70 so it will lay flat in it. I put in three measured level tablespoons of Phoslock and rinse it well in my old tank water after a water change as some fine rusy dust will rinse out of it.

I put in the bottom of my Aquaclear, one Ritefit filter pad cut to size to hold all my media I want the water to flow thru off the bottom for better water flow thru the media. Then I have a rinsed and spread flat, small bag of Chempure Elite layed flat on that. Then the mesh bag of Phoslock layed flat with the Phoslock spread even across the bag and then a filter pad cut to size on top of all that to keep everything laying flat and in place so the water flows thru it all.

I slowly built up the amount of Phoslock I used to not shock my corals. I did on tablespoon for a few weeks then two for a few weeks and then three. I know it says it can last three months but I change it out after about two. And I change out my Chempure Elite every month. I rinse the Phoslock and Chempure Elite well in used tank water at every water change. And vacuum out my filter once a month. Hope all that makes sense. :)

Yay for pipe organ!

(And other corals look great too :) )

Yes! Loving the pipe, thanks again!

Awesome! Thanks for the details :). I'm going to pick some up. Do you use the sponge that came with the AC70? I have a filter pad and then the original sponge and the chemipure on top of that. I need the original sponge to hold the filter pad down...otherwise it wants to get pushed out. Maybe if I cut the filter pad larger and wedge it in I wouldn't need that sponge. I rinse the sponge weekly. I'm going to switch it up and put the CP and the Phoslock at the bottom as you described. See if that makes a difference for me. Thanks again :flower:.

I do not use any of the things that came with the AC70. The sponge seems to dense and I only want larger matter trapped. My water changes are my main export. I would think the sponge is so dense it would slow down the water flowing thru the filter and I want enough free area in there so things arnt packed in it, for water to cirulate thru and around my media so it will work. Also, I didnt like the idea of me just rinsing it out. I would think a lot of decaying stuff would stay deep in it. I buy that cut it to size filter pad stuff. Blue on one side and white on the other. I cut a piece for the bottom of the filter to just hold the stuff up off the bottom so water will run thru it all good. I do cut the top piece larger so it is wedged a bit in there but even though I have my filter on the highest flow it is not hard enought to push it up or out as I have a 30 impeller in it. :) hope this makes sense.

I went to the Chattanooga Aquarium on Sunday and came back in awe of all the creatures that God made in the ocean.

Although my children seemed to be more impressed with the penguins and sharks.

I then stopped at the fish store that is in that area. My tank is so full I really cant buy a whole lot anymore but did pick up this pretty mushroom for five dollars.

And this Tube Anemone.

I am going to be seting up a ten gallon in my bedroom soon for my rock flower anemones. I have always wanted a tube anemone and saw the perfect one so got it and will move it into the ten gallon once cycled and doing well. Until then I will enjoy it in here!

Everything is looking great! What are your settings for your Current Orbit Marine?

Thank you!

I have it on a pre-programed setting that came with it. It is the M1 setting. 10 hours full intensity. 15 minute sunrise/sunset. 4 hours 10% blue moon light.

There's always room for a $5 mushroom!

Ha ha! You are so right!

Thank you for checking in on me. You are so very sweet. I had never figured out how to have a notification from my own thread but get them on the threads I follow regularly. So I dont know when anyone posts on mine unless I check it. I have been incredibly busy and have had no time to myself in a long stretch. All is well. Just very busy with so many children to home school and care for. I am not on the computer like I was in the past anymore. I miss it and chatting with everyone. I think of you often and pray for you and your purchasing of your new home and move. I read everyones notifications as they come thru my phone and still see everyones tanks and whats being said. Everyone is on my mind. I am so happy for you and pray for the very best life there for you. It will be amazing, I know it! I look forward to seeing all of your tanks set up and running once you get settled in. I know it will be a lot to move them but you are so creative, they are going to look wonderful. My little tank is still doing well. Here is a video of it, my son posted on Youtube for me recently, as it just turned 10 months old. :)

I am in the process of setting up a little 10 gallon in my bedroom just for a few fish, inverts, flowers and a few low light coral. Even though there is not much in there yet, it has been very peaceful to sleep by and watch before bed. I promised my husband I would not spend anything on this set up or to fill it, out of our family budget. It is totally being set up from money from my personal holiday and special occation monitary gifts. And he loves me and knows how much I want this so he bought me some inexpesive lights for it. I also had a friend bring me by some frags for it from her tank.

Thank you again for thinking of me. It made my day to see this post and blessed my heart. Many blessings to you!

Glad to hear you're doing well. I've never seen a clown hide in zoas/palys like that. Too cute!! I loved watching him.

Ha! One more tank. It's hard not to, 10g are cheap and don't require much and a nice place to put a coral or fish that perhaps you

can't put in the other tank.

I guess I'm not as excited about the move as I could be because the first home I ever bought it was because I wanted to, this was because I had to and under stressful conditions. Doesn't have everything I'd want but dang it, God was seriously giving me some telling signs about stopping the modular idea, and finding a house, to now the town home. The space is fine, I just wish it had a fireplace and a patio that didn't have immediate neighbors to left, right and behind me. No privacy in back. I am a person that likes her privacy. Granted I know that part of it is to be healing, to move away from the duplex in which my husband and I had memories and start new ones somewhere else. I get that.

Time will reveal. Thank You.

I really do understand. Chage is hard, especially hard changes. Usually, when I am going thru something hard and things dont work out as I wanted them to or planed, God reveals to me later, why it went the way it did and usually it was for the better. Peace to your heart.

Thank you Gena. I have missed you all as well. I still follow everyones threads on my phone as stuff is posted. I just hardly have time to get on line anymore or respond. I am potty training two kiddos right now and home schooling so many. There is no end in sight of the business. I have goats about to kid any day and then I will be milking as well. All of the children we adopted are special needs so we have also had a lot of dr appointments and specialist appointments lately. But I am still reefing and enjoying seeing everyones tanks. Your tank is still the bomb by the way!

Yes, very much missed. May you and your family enjoy a blessed Christmas as well.

Thank you. You blessed my day. God be with you at this special time of year!

Life has gotten a bit complicated. It has kept me from getting on line as much as I used to but I am still enjoying my tanks. I know it is time for an update. So sorry for not posting as much as I used to.

Here is my newest FTS. Keep in mind this is the day before cleaning day. :)

For those that have asked to see the little 10 gallon I set up recently... here it is. Keep in mind it is going thru its various algea stages. It is only a few months old. I captured all but one of my rock flower anenomes from my 20 Long and put them in here. I am still trying to get the last (red) one caught and moved.

Harry...look at those pipes on the right in both tanks!!! They have gotten huge in no time from the frags you shipped me! Thanks again!!

Both tanks look great! It must be a real comfort to be able to sit and enjoy the tanks with everything else that's been going on :)

Thank you! It is very relaxing to clean the tanks once a week and to sit by them and feed bottles to baby's. All of the children like to sit by the tank in the living room and watch all the critters. They have named just about everything in there. :) Now that I have one in the bedroom, I catch my husband sitting close to it and looking into it before bed. He asks me a lot of questions about the things he sees in it.

Your tanks are really well done,I really like the islands in the 20. You have such a good mix of stuff and everything looks seemless. Very awesome! I really like the mushrooms on the bottom left

Thank you so much! I used to have a little valley in between the two islands in the 20 L but things are growing and intertwining now. :) I have had those two bottom huge ricordias for a very long time. The blue with a green mouth is my favoite. I almost lost the orange one to bleaching when I first got him. Had him in to much light. He was half dead. I moved him into the shade and it took him about three months to recover. He is very orange now and beautiful. Thanks again!

Gorgeous . I see your filter intake is coralline encrusted. Mine is getting that way too. Most of it grows on the rocks. But the filter intake is starting to take off now too :).

Yes, it is getting quite purple and that is with the urchin cleaning it some. The tuxedo urchin I have does not get it all off. He just kind of takes a small layer off and leaves some bare areas. The pincushin urchin in my 10 scrapes things down to the rock. Leaves nothing behind and he is really tiny comparitively. I really need to try to clean the intake tube and the power heads. I am just not sure I can get them put back exactly where I had them before If I take them out to clean them. Your tank looks great. I think you set yours up right after I did. Mine will be a year old in February.
