Nanofreak79
You guys....this is a no sump tank! I'm sticking to my original slumin it beginnings, with maybe a few minor adjustments later on. Right now my goal is to cycle this thing in 3-4 weeks and start adding coral to keep up with the deadline on reef2reef. I mean, I still think it looks ok, no? Link to comment
Horerczy
Yes it's cool. Would look better if the heater was hidden. I wish maxpect would reveal all their riptide sizes. One would look awesome in this tank if it were small enough. Link to comment
Chris!
Yes it looks fine, its just fun when you realize we are right lol Link to comment

Especially on the back of a tank that has a black back. http://www.marinedepot.com/Lifeguard_Aquatics_Low_Profile_Strainer_Strainer_Plumbing_Parts-Lifegard_Aquatics-RB31517-FIFTST-vi.html Link to comment
Reefkid88
I like the low profile look of that one. This is the one I was talking about: http://www.marinedepot.com/CPR_RSS_Overflow_Box_Retrofit_Surface_Skimmer_12_Overflow_Boxes_for_Saltwater_Aquariums-CPR-CR20450-FIOF-vi.html Link to comment

There confusing me. Would I need a 1" for the 1" drain or the usual 3/4" for the 1" drain? I like the low profile look of that one. Nanofreak79
That's what I thought. Idk, I'm not sure I'm gonna sump this. I put a lot of money into parts of this already and selling that stuff, even being new, will not recoup my costs. I think it'll still be a nice little tank. Link to comment
Tamberav
Sump probably isn't needed if you aren't going to load it with lots of poopy fish. Link to comment
Nanofreak79
When I told the wife I wanted a sump now she about shit a brick. I got the whole why did you waste money on this and that. She's been reading all sorts of threads on here lately and has become a lot smarter about this whole reefing game. I agree, which is why I originally didn't plan for a sump, thanks tamb. Horerczy
Just shove an ac110 on there and there's no need for a sump. Link to comment
Legendary Corals
I've seen a couple of good builds with an AC filter. You'll do just fine. I recommend the inTank mod if you haven't done so already. Link to comment
Nanofreak79
Yeah I already purchased the InTank media basket and picoaquariums surface skimmer box. Link to comment
Nanofreak79
It's a happy birthday today! Tank has water in it, yay. I did WC's on all my tanks today and used a 50/50 mix of fresh and new saltwater. The surface skimmer arrived today just in time. SS works beautifully, can't thank pico enough for a job well done. The one thing I always hated about sump less tanks was the surface skum....no more of that. Anyway, here's a few pics of the newly wet tank. http://flic.kr/p/o1qikC'>http://flic.kr/p/o1qikC'>IMG_8506 by -Nanofreak79- http://flic.kr/p/ohUY4c'>http://flic.kr/p/ohUY4c'>IMG_8507 by -Nanofreak79- http://flic.kr/p/ohCjS6'>http://flic.kr/p/ohCjS6'>IMG_8508 by -Nanofreak79- http://flic.kr/p/o1quQk'>http://flic.kr/p/o1quQk'>IMG_8510 by -Nanofreak79- Link to comment

Alex B
Looks good! I wish I could have gone with a longer tank. I'm happy with my little synergy tank though! I would have liked the 24 long synergy tank, but the piece of furniture it's on it only 23 long. Link to comment
Horerczy
I see a koralia in there. Wp too much? Bet a riptide would look nice in there if they make one small enough. Link to comment
