So I'm working on the tank today. I love it. Some people hate maintanance but I enjoy it! I can't stand still even of I try, so this gives me something to do.

Getting the new tunzes in and installing the apex. So much stuff to get going! I'm excited though. After this the tank will be 100%

While I'm working on the tank I've been thinking about a background. I've never liked black backgrounds. Done know why. I like clear tanks, or light backgrounds. I've been thinking of doing something like this tank I'm posting. This tank has always been a inspiration to me. It's 1 of my fav tanks. It's a medium blue that fades into a light blue. What do you guys think?

I'm about to head out and buy the paint. Going to use plastidip so if I ever change my mind I can just peel it off.

That tank is clean, oh so very clean.

Yes it is. I hope my tank can be half as amazing as that tank 1 day.

I've accomplished a lot of my goals when it comes to the design of that tank. Now I just need to convince all my frags to grow and color up!

I'm sure that background isn't blue. It's clear. The blue you see is from the lights reflecting off the white wall. But those tanks you posted look awesome.

Actually it is blue. The pics are the same tank trough it's progression. Look up "A reef in the sky"

There is a build thread on a couple other forums. He goes over how he made the background. It's a fading blue vinyl. Goes from a medium blue to a light blue. Helps hide the wires, plumbing, ect.

Ok. Gotcha. If you look at D'Expresso's thread he achieves the same effect with his T5s. The fading blue. But either way both look nice.

Yea my tank basically does the same thing now with my t5s. Main reason i want the background is because my wall isn't white. It's a very light vanilla color. Makes the light almost look green behind the tank because of the color. Either going to do this background or paint the wall white. :)

Any company that does car wraps or sign printing should be able to do this on a piece of 3M vynil.

I'm sure the gradient is much smoother when digitally sourced and printed.

Your on the right track! I have a plotter and printer since I do automotive ppf film. Problem is the following. When you print vinyl the adhesive side is not colored. It's white with the adhesive which means once it's on the tank the printed part is on the outside. Talking to a 3m rep yesterday got me closer. Apparently I need to get vinyl with no adhesive. I then need to print the color and seal it. Once I do that I can use a clear adhesive so that the printed vinyl faces in and you get the effect in the tank. Sounds a little complicated..lol...going to keep looking around.

I have a 30k lokani. Mine is a very light purple at mid tank directly under the radion about 10'' from it. It looks nothing like the one in the picture though. :D I got it from a friend who had it about 6 inches away from his gen2 radions and it was colored up and looked great. Mine is encrusting a little, but has not shown much PE or color in the 4 months I have had it.

Awesome. I'll slowly bring it up and place it up high. Hopefully it will color up! It's poop brown now...lol

Bro I highly suggest you get a orange passion since your in florida. Also I'm curious to see how yours would do in a zeo system compared to mine in a non zeo system. It is an awesome sps. It's definilty a nice sps addition for any collection.
