BattleAthletics
that is a bad ass tank. Is there a tank thread somewhere for it? http://www.reef2reef.com/forums/reef-aquarium-spotlight/165437-july-2014-reef2reef-com-tank-spotlight-jourdy.html I miss that rock too haha shut up ive got some frags down on rocks now. I don't know a lot about Lifereef stuff other than that it is retardedly expensive for what it is. What is it doing or not doing that you want it to do or not do? Skimmers all do the same thing the same way, blow bubbles to push organics and particulates out into the cup. Pellets, flake, frozen, live. Pick whichever is easiest or best that you will keep up with. Know anyone running halides or T5 for lights? Leave them on. I agree its expensive but so many people have bought these skimmers only to fall in love with them. Im glad I didnt have to shell out 500+ for the skimmer as it was a packaged deal. Wat to the last sentence. Quote Link to comment
jedimasterben
Wat to the last sentence. Do you know anyone running halide or T5 light? If you do and they don't have issues, then leave them on. 1 Quote Link to comment

How are you going to compare both of the those with the spectrum the radion has especially individual green leds? Quote Link to comment

This is the Iwasaki 6500K metal halide, regarded by many (and many aquaculture facilities) as the standard for coral growth. Tanks lit by that (and other non-blue bulbs) don't seem to have algae issues automatically, do they? Now, this is the Radium 20K halide. I've seen many tanks lit by them that have had major algae issues. This is the spectrum for the Radion. Look at the blue line (which is the overall spectral signature for all channels at full power). Light is not the cause of algae. 2 Quote Link to comment

Ive decided to remove my 1" square tubing radion mount for a more easier to work with mount. Looking over at RC, ive seen threads on mounts and saw this very inexpensive way to mount my radion. RollaJase
Looks like that mount is made from one of those cheapo TV wall mounts you get at hardware stores. I have seen then for about $20-$40 each over here. Quote Link to comment

That will have to be an all day ordeal for sure. Quote Link to comment

It just couldn't reach far enough off the wall for me which sucked. I'm not looking forward to re-plumbing my tank either, definitely going to take me all day when the sump goes in. 1 Quote Link to comment

Im going to try and have it all ready to just put the bulkheads in and glue it to the pvc. I hope. I remember going to a store in Houston, I cannot for the life of me remember the stores name but it had one of the nicest store tanks ive ever been to. https://flic.kr/p/ohFfva'>https://flic.kr/p/ohFfva'> autocompress1395620479526 by https://www.flickr.com/people//'>battleathletics, on Flickr https://flic.kr/p/oAUWNX'>https://flic.kr/p/oAUWNX'> autocompress1395620416963 by https://www.flickr.com/people//'>battleathletics, on Flickr https://flic.kr/p/oAUWPD'>https://flic.kr/p/oAUWPD'> autocompress1395620536973 by https://www.flickr.com/people//'>battleathletics, on Flickr https://flic.kr/p/oz8vru'>https://flic.kr/p/oz8vru'> autocompress1395620505400 by https://www.flickr.com/people//'>battleathletics, on Flickr https://flic.kr/p/oyTuVM'>https://flic.kr/p/oyTuVM'> autocompress1395620455144 by https://www.flickr.com/people//'>battleathletics, on Flickr 3 Quote Link to comment
jedimasterben
Algae will grow with any light correct? It may not be the kind you want as in coraline. Correct. Algae doesn't care anything about the light as long as it is there. But what I don't get is why 6500k is the standard in coral growth. That's just how it is. Corals require a balanced light. 6500K doesn't mean anything, as that color temperature can be comprised of any mixture of wavelengths of a mixture of intensities, but our eyes have no clue that they're different - however, corals do. That's why I mentioned specific bulbs. A 6500K bulb from another manufacturer will have a spectral signature that looks nothing like the Iwasaki bulb, etc. 1 Quote Link to comment

So I ended up cracking the back glass on the drilled aquapod, going to try to silicone and cover it with glass for reinforcement, I think if it wasn't for the overflow box it would be leaking. You don't have the small tank anymore to at least keep it going? : ( Speaking of, I'm gonna set it up right now. Quote Link to comment
