HarryPotter
Those beam arrays look interesting! Are they still 3w LEDs? Just "on-off" control? If so they might be a great option to get some LED pop/shimmer without needing all those pucks and controllers. Quote Link to comment
DaveFason
I could not believe how hard it was. I have tried three times to get in but always missed out. You have to go online, refresh exactly at 10AM and then scramble to get a table. I was able to get 730 on a Saturday and everything else was sold out in seconds. Pretty nuts. How about you and Jeff just join him It may be there this weekend. Its going to be a long week waiting for that thing They are. They are controlled by Bluefish The customer wanted mega blue so I gave it to him. While that does not look like much that is a TON of royal, blue and violets on there. I just picked up a few Sunpowers to trick out and sell. Should be soon Those beam arrays look interesting! Are they still 3w LEDs? Just "on-off" control? No bluefish? Just those drivers and the strips? Quote Link to comment
jedimasterben
Hmm. Apex controlled is cheaper right? No bluefish? Just those drivers and the strips? The Bluefish Mini is $100 and offers far more control than the Apex ever will for lighting The Apex adapter should be cheaper if you've already got a full Apex setup though. Quote Link to comment

I have the apex, would need $99 VDM though. So maybe bluefish. But it's just for pop so a cheap on/off via an outlet with a manual dimmer would be perfect. Cheaper too. Quote Link to comment

Analog drivers are significantly more expensive, around $35 each to run three Beam strips, then a few bucks for the potentiometers, etc. The setup above, with 10 strips, would cost over $150 all said and done for drivers and control, versus using DC drivers, a power supply, and then the BF mini for very nearly the same cost. 1 Quote Link to comment

If so they might be a great option to get some LED pop/shimmer without needing all those pucks and controllers. Those blue beam strips are not weak. That's what I have in my powermodule as the only source of blue spectrum. 2 rows and I run them at less than 1W and each row puts out PAR equal to 2x Blue+. I didn't think they were that strong so I lowered my light from the 9" above the water line it was at before on an 18" tall tank and I fried some SPS real good. For reference. Purple+ Coral+ Blue BEAM True Actinic Aquablue Special Blue BEAM Coral+ True Actinic Blue at 90% on Apex using an LDD-300H. Blue tank. 1 Quote Link to comment
DaveFason
Already came and went! I will be back in a month or so. You comin up to NYC? Another very successful day in the shop after a nice weekend break. Bunch of orders heading out tomorrow and Wednesday and a few NanoBox Sunpower Retros will be heading out soon after. Untitled by David Fason, on Flickr While I was in New York I was able to pop in and stop by a customers house and check out there set ups. I really enjoy doing this as I get to see the units in person and interact with them directly. DaveFason
Working away! I received a large run of Minis and Duos that will get prepped this week. More orders out and SO close to being caught up. I am hoping for Friday to be a huge day in getting units ready before shipping. I just finished a sheet for NanoBox Sunpower RETROs. I hope this helps people visualize before buying.
