If you don't see the starlet looking fluffy at the height you have it, move it lower.

Okay Marine snow is not really food for LPS corals. They need meats. The hidden cup will eat pellets and mysis and brine. Both will eat small micron pulverized foods like golden pearls, rotifers, cyclops, copepods. The marine snow has plankton but not enough.

I guess my last post was misleading. I spot feed with marine snow over the starlet and the hidden cup but the hidden cup also gets Cyclops, some pellets and PE Mysis. I have the hidden cup right next to the sun coral so they all get fed really well. The snow was mainly for the starlet.

It is moved about halfway down the tank now.

I'll wait and see if there is any PE tonight.

Big Thanks to MetroKat. I moved my starlet coral down in the tank as per her recommendation and it had full polyp extension.

My SpectraPure Ro/DI unit came today but of course I wasn't home when it got delivered so I'll have to set it up tomorrow morning or Friday evening.

*I wonder if the unit comes with any helpful instructions...?*

In the freshwater tank world: I got a crawdad for the 50. It has a nice green and brown mottled pattern and it doesn't seem interested in eating the fish...yet. The closest thing to a freshwater mantis shrimp? I think so.

Well the RO/DI unit is much larger than I expected. I mean a lot larger than I expected. I was thinking that each canister would be like the size of a water bottle and these things are like the size of a 2 liter soda bottle.

Off topic: And I now hate myself for playing really depressing games. I just finished Brothers the other day and the ending reminded me that my little black heart is still somewhat functional. I bought the game on a whim after trying the demo thinking that it would be a simple adventure/puzzle game but instead it quickly became a dark Brothers Grimm-esque fairy tale. Death was ever present through out the game but the ending was a tear jerker. The only downside is that the game was super short - like the 100% complete in under 3 hours kind of short. If it had been longer I am sure that I would be sobbing like a child.

TL;DR? I am now emotionally scarred. And I got a very large RO/Di unit.

My last surviving favia frag is finally starting to come back around after all this time. I has been on the cusp of death for some time now after the favias melted but this one is starting to grow some new skeleton and the polyps are getting a bit larger. It only took a few months <_<

Unfortunately the micromussa was sacrificed to the aquarium gods by a hermit which decided to explore the frag rack and knock off a ton of the frag disks. Of all the coral to get pushed of the rack the micromussa happened to land "safely" next to the LTA.

Going to be away from the tank for around 12 days. During that time the tank will be blacked out and not fed to help fight off the remaining bryopsis and GHA

As for the anemones and starlet coral they will be in a lit section to provide them with the light they need. Simply put I have a large arylic sheet dividing the tank in half horizontally with the anemones and starlet in the upper portion. Every other coral and rock is in the now dark section.

Pic when I get back to see the results and the new scape. :)

It isn't a bathtub yet. ;) I'll have to find a way to reinforce the bottom. But then you'll have to deal with that residual salt on your skin...

and orifices

Picked up a generic pipefish the otherday. Replaced some of the rocks, moved the nems, let the corals grow a bit. All in a few months time. Oh and I am getting a 50gallon fowlraafsc (fish only with live rock and a few soft corals) I'll have a pic dump when everything comes together.

Pulled the trigger on the photon 24. and I am minimizing everything to a 10 gallon with fresh live rock and sand. The Bryopsis infestation has shown its ugly face at full force so the 10 gallon will be where the "clean" corals go.

I couldn't figure out why my zoanthids haven't been opening for some time now while everything else seemed perfectly fine. Well I took my skimmer offline to give it a good deep cleaning and when I installed it again last night the zoas shot open. Every single one was wide open and looked perkier than ever. I guess I haven't been getting optimal oxygen exchange for their liking?

Update: Everything that was infected with bryopsis was dipped in H2O2 and brushed clean. After they passed inspection they were clear to enter the 10 gallon.

The photon 2 should be here by Thursday and up by Friday or Saturday afternoon. I'm sure the anemones will appreciate the new light.

The only issue I have is that whenever I add an LPS they seem to slowly wither away. with the exception of my last favia frag. I added a chalice with 2 mouths last Friday and put it into the tank after acclimating and such. There was a portion of flesh which was damaged from being in the bag but nothing serious. Now 3 days later there is some more recession from that spot with freshly exposed skeleton.

I can't simply write it off as being goof ups because if anything my BTA and favia would let me know if anything was seriously out of whack. I am going to look into getting a MAG test kit and see if my numbers are a bit low. Perhaps I am having alk swings, but who knows at this point.

I'll have some pics up when I get the Photon 24. Maybe even a video of the clowns hosting the BTA and LTA simultaneously :D

I'm still waiting on the second mp10 and the plumbing equipment before the 40 can get up and running. I also have to convert the now empty 20 gallon into a refugium/sump. After all that the tank will be ready to go.

Thinking about it now the new light will be super overkill for the 10 gallon.... everything better start spreading like crazy and getting insane colors.

Got the Photon today. I opened the box and my goodness is that fixture beautiful. omgomgomg Going to screw around with the color ratios for a bit to see what I like. I'll probably aim for 16k during the afternoon (6-9) and 12k during regular viewing hours (12-6) if I can figure out how to program it.

I think I'll start it at 20% and see how everything reacts.

....so that means we're going to see the 40B soon?????? :)

I want to set it up so badly but I still have to drill it and get the plumbing done. :/

I can take pics of it if everyone wants to see an empty tank so badly  I'm in the process of getting more update photos of the corals, tanks, the new light, etc...

That "starlet coral" looks more like a sand dollar montipora...

Not sure what you are referencing to get that idea. If you look at the skeleton of Siderastrea radians that may help you see it better. It in no way resembles a monti IMO.

I promise I will have pictures tomorrow because I am getting 2 montipora from Reefchicks; one X-Factor Monitpora and one Red Montipora Digitata. When the FedEx guys asks what Reefchicks is I'll tell him it's mermaid porn :naughtydance: .

And I have spent some time gluing the zoas to the new rockwork and taking some sweet pics of everything. I think I'll have to keep this tank up when the 40B gets up and going..... the disease progresses.

The Red M. Digitata. It seems to have lost a bit of color but the polyps are starting to come out and they are a bright red. Excuse the photobomb. Florence got excited.

The X-factor M. Capricornis. I can't capture the blue polyps but this sucker will looks amazing once it starts to encrust and take over the corner.

The new FTS. Excuse the GHA the turbo has not found it yet.

MY favorite zoas to photograph. Notice the little guys to the right that are fused together?

The clowns hosting the LTA now. Ther emerald crab pestered the GBTA into the mp10 and needless to say the water looked like milk. :'( Maybe I should just stay away from BTA until the 40 gets going.

Well the turbo snail tore up the plating monti. I reglued it nearer to the front of the tank. While regluing it I noticed that a piece had been recently broken off. I couldn't find it anywhere in the tank but while looking at the bag that the coral came in earlier I saw the missing fragment still alive after 12 hours of being in a tiny bit of water not including shipping time. The new fragment is next to the Red Digi, it will serve as a growing platform for the digi to encrust over.

For some reason Pierce was hiding out in this little cave where the emerald like to hang out.

Finally got my creative spark back again. It's a concept sketch of a jinni.

I also tore apart my GSP frag and glued it to the back of the tank to create a GSP wall.
