Those Sea Pigs are something else indeed !

Everyone on Long Island knows the big duck. I pass it all the time.

Yes I figured you would see/know that one .... It's kind of like the Big Chicken in Atlanta ...

Nice colonies.

Quite a tank indeed and so what the other one posted I think ... that large one was quite a sight to watch ...

Hi Albert, you likely answered this question somewhere in the thread but please indulge me :)

In your opinion what is the optimal depth for a DSB?

Thanks!

The opinions seem to vary a great deal and some suggest 4 inches but then others suggest up to 7 inches ... of course depth depends on size of tank ... also some set up the DSB remotely as in a sump rather than in the tank ...

However as you are aware there are quite some differing opinions on their actual efficiency in the long run .... Then there are those who combine it with a Plenum, so it gets to be complicated to answer the question without a lot more details about the tank on which it it is considered for ....

Here are some links to DSB's by various Authors :

Hope these help ... I also have a number of videos on DSB .... I'll post them later ....

When i lived in Antwerp, Belgium and visited the Zoo regularly I was attacked by a flock of Duck (if flock is the correct word) and I can tell you those things are "nasty" and if there are several, they "bite" and hard too and ever since then as I still remember the bunch of them going after me and moving nearly as fast as I could run as a young boy in those days, "Ducks are NOT my buddies" for sure ....

My best friend "DukDuk" takes exception to that.

That duck looks huge in that picture but it is about as large as a small closet.

Yes I can see that ... looks real nice and enjoying the care you are taking of it ...

And on the other one ... yes I does look Huge indeed ... but as large as a closet is still large ... :-o

Quite day it seems today ... Here in ATL it is raining and raining and more rain ... flood watches in effect in a lot of counties ... but I don't live near a creek or stream so I should be OK ...
