Jacobnano
Ok heres the rules (these will be edited don't worry ): -Total tank volume should be basically 10g. As in no sumps, but a HOB filter is allowed, also converting the tank into an all-in-one is allowed. -Refugiums are allowed, but should be no bigger than an AquaClear 110. -HOB filters are allowed but the largest size is an AquaClear 110. -Budget of 200$? -All live stock can come from anywhere, sponsors, LFS, whatever. If you use something from a current tank, you deduct 75% of its fair market value. If you purchase livestock online, you deduct the actual price paid for the livestock from the budget, but don't count shipping costs. -You can mod all you want as long as you keep your total volume at 10 gallons. -Budget is done on the honor system since we all know what its all worth. In short, you've got 6 months to make a sweet tank on a limited budget. -Begins November 15th Zoa- Regular zoa- 1$ per polyp Regular palys - 1.50$ per polyp "Fancy Zoa/Palys" - I don't know how common these will be but I am just going to say 5$ per polyp. LPS- Frogspawn- 7$ per head Hammer- 7$ per head Duncans - 5$ per head Open Brains - 15$? Acans- 7$ per head Favia- 7$ per 1 inch square Chalice- 7$ per one inch square Trumpet- 3$ per head Candy cane- 5$ per head Leathers/softies- Mushrooms - 2$ per polyp Ricordea 5$ per polyp Yumas- 10$ per polyp GSP- 5$ per one inch square Kenya trees- 2$ per frag Xenia- 2$ per frag Other leathers- General but 5$ per frag SPS- If anyone goes into this Monti Caps- 5$ per 4 inches Encrusing Montis- 15$ per inch Birdnest- 10$ per 2 inches Pocillopora- 10$ per 2 inches Montipora Digitata- 5$ per one inch Other inverts- Feather dusters (not hitchhikers)- 5$ Macro Algae- Cheato- 0$ Other- 3$ Hitchhiker- No price of course... Let me know and I will add more things. Link to comment
Damsels R Cool
Why is the budget $200 now Ok heres the rules (these will be edited don't worry ): -Total tank volume should be basically 10g. As in no sumps, but a HOB filter is allowed, also converting the tank into an all-in-one is allowed. -Refugiums are allowed, but costs will count as part of the budget. -Budget of 300$? -All used equipment utilized in contest will be deducted from your budget at 75% of the lowest advertised price from the cheapest place you find it (a link must be provided). the 75% rule applys to live stock only For equipment purchased online, only deduct the actual price of the equipment from the budget, don't deduct shipping costs. -All live stock can come from anywhere, sponsors, LFS, whatever. If you use something from a current tank, you deduct 75% of its fair market value. If you purchase livestock online, you deduct the actual price paid for the livestock from the budget, but don't count shipping costs. -You can mod all you want as long as you keep your total volume at 10 gallons and deduct costs from your budget. -Budget is done on the honor system since we all know what its all worth. Lighting fixtures, tank, filters, skimmers, rock and livestock all count towards budget, so manage wisely. -Begins November 15th Link to comment

evodrgn@
i'm confused about the pricing for equipment still. do we count it or not? Link to comment

pisces4u
Yeah clarify for me too pls. $200 or $300 budget? Equipment (tank, light, HOB, heater, powerheads) are deducted from budget or not? Would live rock rubble count as $4/lb or $2/lb or something else? Link to comment
got2envy
I still think LR should be free It's like it's part of the equipment.... Link to comment
JoeD
Hmmm... just started following... Planned to upgrade my mantis hold to a 10g already.... add a bit more sand, LR... not a big cash outlay. Clarification on the budget.... hardware deducted?, or just livestock? This will be a shoestring tank for me... the 12" cube contest kinda blew my extra fun $$$. Speaking of the 12" contest... can I suggest an addition to the rules..... RULE #1 Yea that choose to enter: No bickering, whining, name calling or otherwise doing things to make the contest not fun....... my $.02.... now I'm officially poor, and can't afford to offer any more insights Link to comment

got2envy
Hmmm... Can I enter and provide a prize? I've been wanting to enter one of these for a while but was also thinking of donating 4 mini-nems for one of the prizes. What do you guys think? That would be awesome!! Link to comment
Dizzle21
Im just catching up on this contest since i was on vacation and wow its came along way in a few days and the prizes are gooood!! thanks everyone! i cant wait to start! Link to comment
c_k_kuehne
The way I have been following this was: Budget reduced to $200 because equipment now does NOT count towards budget. So $200 is just for livestock. Most frags and what not you use the standardized prices as setup in the rules. Tank can not be started up till Nov. 15th giving people time to get their equipment together. Basically tanks with saltwater in them before Nov. 15th are not eligible for the contest. Damsels R Cool
I still think LR should be free It's like it's part of the equipment.... here's the problem with that what looks better LR or base. i think live looks way better and i think it would give an unfair advantage to those who use LR vs base so live rock should be $4 a pound base is $2 a pound The way I have been following this was: Budget reduced to $200 because equipment now does NOT count towards budget. Charles here's the problem with a $200 live only stock budget if you look back at the winners of many enter you tank type contest it's awayls the people spending alot of money on equpiment and have SPS dominated reefs so thats why i made it at $300 including equpiment lol just realizedwe have so many prizes too little competition awwww yeee is'nt that a good thing Link to comment
