Damsels R Cool
Final rules -Total tank volume should be basically 10g. As in no sumps, but a HOB filter is allowed, also converting the tank into an all-in-one is allowed. -Refugiums are allowed, but should be no bigger than an AquaClear 110. -HOB filters are allowed but the largest size is an AquaClear 110. -Budget of 350$ -The cost of the equipment is taken from the budget, so spend wisely. -All live stock can come from anywhere, sponsors, LFS, whatever. You go by the list below, you do no deduct shipping if buying online. -You can mod all you want as long as you keep your total volume at 10 gallons. -Not deducted from the budget: building supplies, eggcrate, stand/canopy materials, plumbing, sand testing supplies mag float, heater, thermometer, salt, water, supplements, food or CUC (only including snails and hermit crabs + certain other crabs PM me if you want to add something to the CUC that I did NOT mention) -Budget is done on the honor system since we all know what its all worth. In short, you've got 6 months to make a sweet tank on a limited budget. -When something dies it does not count toward the budget. -Live stock such as fishes and crabs would be 75% off the Live aquaria pricing -Begins November 15th ^^^^ is that good for fish pricing if everyone is ok with that hese would be our final rules Link to comment
bradisfun
it might not be corals it might be something else like books or additives/supplimentsif they were to sponsor the contest prize what would it be like best DIY or best aquascape or what and they want to know what sort of prize u would be looking for look on there site and see what u think would be aproprite also theres a mini nem (hich hicker) on the live rock that i will be useing is this deducted from my buget brad just throwing this out there but tru vue makes 10g standard sized tanks that are pretty snazzy. they are $110-$120 at a LFS nearby. would that be the cost that will be deducted from the budget? on there site they don't have a 10g the close'st is a 12g Link to comment
got2envy
Brad your 10g tank will be $10 USD regardless of what you pay in Australia. The mini nem will be deducted at the generic price...which is $10 USD along with anything else you purchase, even if you pay less for acans they are deducted at the price on the generic list. The sponor needs to let us know what they want to donate and know that all contestants participating other than yourself are in the USA and the problem is I doubt that they will want to cover shipping here, I know that even tho it is a donated prize the cost of shipping will be crazy for me to pay out of my pocket.. gabe3eb
There is no reason to have an Australian sponsor for this event. We have 25 people participating and 1 of them is from Australia. Leave the sponorships up to the Mods or Thread starters, IMO. At this point, it also looks like all the prizes are filled up. If there was an additional sponsor at this point, it would have to be a sponsor that offered discounts to all contestants and something that made sense (i.e., available to more than 1 of the 25 participants). Call me crazy but sounds pretty logical. As far as rules go, the 75% off fish makes absolutely no sense to me. But, for the sake of getting some rules locked in, if including it in the rules would get them locked in, just do it. Contest starts in less than 2 weeks and I'm already purchasing hardwear which affects my livestock planning. Link to comment
pisces4u
Same here. I've already purchased lighting, heater, ac110 and it's all in the mail. No more rules changes pls!!! Link to comment

justkidding86
More like just clarification Ok so just found out that that at my LFS they sell 10g hex for $35. To my understanding the price of the tank comes out of the budget. So i deduct $35 making $315 left over. Since all of my equipment I already have I have to find the lowest online price to deduct from the budget correct? 70w viper $148.49 http://www.aquabuys.com/page/aqb/PROD/jbj-viper-light-70 Koralia 1 $30.59 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000O3CI4...;pf_rd_i=507846 Still left in budget $135.92? Is all of that right or did I mess up something? Link to comment
Jacobnano
Yes. But you would actually deduct 25$ for the tank becuase all normal ten gallon tanks are not deducted but other tanks and custom tanks you can take ten dollars off. Heres is a link to the thread everyone. Try to keep all questions in here until the competition starts. I will be updating the post anyway but it is easier if I just have to check this.
