TheKleinReef
The growth on this is pretty fantastic. Colors are getting lighter, how is the feeding schedule? Same as it's always been. Heavy. Cv, sp, PE, Daily. Phyto, azox, reef chili 3x a week Mysis, Cyclopeeze, etc. daily. I think it's getting to much light. Notice the base still has vibrancy. 1 Quote Link to comment
markalot
I think the green birds is a good indicator of light and nutrients. Base should be a dark brown with bright green polyps. Part of mine is getting 450 PAR and still dark. Could be the photos, since they are iphone. Do you run filter socks? Quote Link to comment

Do you run filter socks? that birdsnest is something i'm trying to get rid of, but my parents insist on keeping it. no matter what i do to the tank it stays pale and sickly looking. basically all of my birsnest died off while all the other sps do well. which is fine with me if acro look fine i don't really mind if the birdsnest looks pale. and i don't think it effective to base the entire systems nutrient levels off of one coral... i mean: https://flic.kr/p/oLonKC'>https://flic.kr/p/oLonKC'>FSH_0489 by https://www.flickr.com/people/127239994@N04/'>loraine_klein1, on Flickr those colors are insane. no i don't run filter socks, i let all the detritus settle in the sump so i don't have too clean of a system. 3 Quote Link to comment

I don't think it's necessarily a good idea to judge off a single coral either, but sometimes you can find a coral that seems to be extra sensitive to one thing and you can then use it to judge that one thing. Mine is up high getting blasted with light but is dark brown while the Katropora very close to it is getting nearly as much light but is much browner, not as colorful, as yours. it just so happens we have both corals in the same general location. So I was thinking this might indicate a continued lack of 'nutrients' in the water, but I really don't know. Is it higher phosphates that color mine up? Higher nitrates? More "floaties" in the water column? Amount of light? My slimer will knock your eyes out. Greens seem to be very easy to brighten up, in my experience. Quote Link to comment
