Look into purple tangs. I grabbed an amazingly healthy baby for a great price recently. It’s crazy what an expensive tang used to cost vs right now.

Not much hardware to brag about.  I am keeping things simple this round.  And also cuz I am broke from spending so much money on this build already.  Hahaha.  I literally had to buy a $20 heater on Amazon because I don't want to throw $300 at the new IM heater.

Preview of the scape =).  Will tweak it some more but the general structure is in.  Built this myself with lots of glue and lots of hammering.  From back to front, the plan is "acros tree", "mount LPS", "encruster battlefield".

Adding sand after water and rock was a huge mistake.  And no matter how much I rinse the dry sand, it's still cloudy and foamy.  Blah.  

 

And did some plumbing =P.  Super simple.  The way I like it.

Not unusual. I rinsed my reefflakes for a solid hour and it was  still cloudy 🤷🏼‍♂️

Plumbing all done!  This is super simple plumbing and it still stressed the hell out of me.  Going to let it cure overnight and do a wet test in the morning.  Hope no leaks and semi quiet.  The skimmer barely fits in this huge sump.  It's a monster skimmer.  I don't love the return pipe running down the center of the sump but there's enough clearance to take off the skimmer cup.

Need to take a better photo tomorrow but the tank is wet and lite.  Decided to only do 3 XR30 since the overflow is taking up space.  I will store the spare in case one of them breaks in the future.  I have diffusers on them too to spread the light out.

Much better pic today in day light with mostly whites.

 

Going to throw my melanurus wrasse in today after water change on the nano.  I am sure she will love the big tank after being in the nano for months.  My sixline chased her around in my 75g.

I may have too much rocks =P.  I originally built the scape without consideration for the internal overflow.  Once I move over my coral colonies, the overall scape will change a lot.  I will enjoy the current minimalistic look for now.
