Just turned the pumps off to feed the hermit & shrimp. Duncan looks much better this evening:

It looks like the tank is feeling better. I hope you are also feeling better.

Thanks, Deb. The tank is slowly improving. And I'm recovering too. 🌺

This small orange rhodactis partially melted weeks ago. Now it's growing back again, although the *new half is more purple than orange. 😅

Also, I'm down with mild flu, so apologies if I don't post much over the next few days. 👍

A day post-WC. Things look okay so far:

However, I have been having trouble with my Sunny D-trumpet coral combo cluster since the last WC (not the recent one) - most of the zoa polyps have been closed, and some have even melted away: 😞

20230507_180113.thumb.jpg.51d710296a0b6e32a537d048b0140033.jpg

Luckily the trumpet coral itself is intact. Excuse the white patches - should have increased my ISO for just this shot alone. 🤦‍♀️

I hope the zoas open back up again. This was one of my favorite coral fusions in my tank.

Also, FTS today on 07/05/23:

Amazing tank! I'm so jealous of your talent.
And btw, i wish you to recover quickly!

Pardon my ignorance, but is it a kind of red lobo ?

Hi, thank you for your kind words. It took a long time for me to get this far, and even then, my reefing journey has always been a roller coaster.

The coral is not a red lobo - but a type of sps called montipora digitata. This is called a forest fire monti digi. 🙂

The tank is BACK and feelin good.

It still needs more time to bounce back in full. I'm seeing new zoa polyps pop up here and there though! Also spotted several new baby shrooms on Mushroom Mountain.

Once I'm strong/healthy enough, I'll try to make a trip to my LFS to trade in some of my pieces and acquire morphs I don't have yet.

Add-on: Today marks Day #30 of going fallow. Only 2 more months left, then it'll be safe to re-add some fish to this nano. 👍

What is that wrapped around the merlettis?

Your Duncans look very healthy.

It looks like a John Deere leptastrea

John Deere leptastrea, like Wuzzo said. 😄

A small frag of it was a birthday gift from my LFS a few years back. 👍

Took a few pics this morning. It's scorching hot over here, so trying to keep the tanks cool without a chiller have been quite a challenge.

Gold spotted discosoma.

Dropped by the LFS today and picked up these two up for the nano:

20230515_141614.thumb.jpg.56a818f01099e38f37cf34024fc78105.jpg

After acclimating them to my nano, they immediately got to work on eating the algae. 👍

The tank's a bit filthy and overdue for its weekly WC. Hoping to get the WC done over the next 2 to 3 days. Have to re-adjust my pet work schedule to accomodate it, but it's necessary. 👍

(Also named the hermit 'Jim' 😅)

Did a clean up of the tank today. Wiped/scraped the glass, trimmed some GSP patches, replaced the media and accidently broke my trumpet coral into 2 pieces. :scarry:

Definitely looks like a hideous mess. I had to trim back the leptastrea as well because it was encroaching on the Sunny Ds and melting them. The Sunny Ds themselves aren't too healthy. 😕

Hoping both trumpet coral frags will settled down in time.

I also moved my shrunken neon green kenya tree from my 60G to this tank for recovery:

Going to need months to recover fully, provided it doesn't melt away first. 😕

I'm tentatively planning on WCing the tank tomorrow. 👍

Also, I accidently broke the filter lens clip yesterday, so I ordered a new one online. I took these pics through the yellow lens without the clip - but it was hard to do so.

Obviously I have not read the whole journey, but I have a question. How often and what do you dose on your tank?
