So a little update I have been dealing with a lot as of late, which in turn has caused me to seriously neglect the tank. It has a bunch of hair algae all over the place which I’m starting to doze some vibrant hopefully it’ll clear up in a few months or so. But everything else inside is doing quite well I did lose one mangrove which I’m going to leave inside the tank because hopefully it’ll come back eventually but everything else seems to be doing quite well I added some wires to train the mangroves to grow towards the light instead of towards the AI primes.

It seems a lot of the hair algae is slowly dying off from dosing vibrant. which is a good thing and it’s allowing the other macros to grow and not choke up the corals.

with the how do you slowly dying off I have been picking at it with some forceps. It’s slowly starting to get back to its former glory. The mangroves have been doing quite well with new leaves and branches. They seem to be growing quite well with additional light that I have added. Then again the mangroves have only been growing for about a year and a half (but who is really counting?) It’s kind of nice having the training wire around the mangroves stock because I could bend them out and make kind of neat shapes out of them slowly. And it seems that I have been dosing a lot of magnesium as of late which reminds me I need to restock. Also for the Corals they seem to be kind of doll and kind of blah as of late I think it might be too much light I have been debating on removing one of the AI primes and just leaving it with a single one since it is more than enough to grow coral with might be too much of a hotspot with the two primes. I have also noticed that the outline Corals like a few of the Monties seem to be enjoying the plant like more than the AI primes which kind of makes me think I should remove them all together.

The Rainy Day Aquarium

I also was making RODI water when I was reading though your previous posts and I forgot that it was running and I flooded my bathroom.

So, thanks for that.

I blame it all on you and your wonderful tank. 🤣😡

Get the “marriage saver” it automatically shuts off rodi when your container is full.. it’s totally worth the $$

It would have saved me the grief of running downstairs like a fool. My wife asked what was going on and all I could get out was "THE BATHROOM!"

After cleaning up all the spilled water for 20min I came back upstairs and she asked if "I was better now?" Then she saw me holding soggy wet towels and gave me one of those looks like "whatever happened, I don't want to know" kind of deal. I tried to explain to her what was up and she just said "riiiiight".

I didn't need it to save my marriage, I needed it to save my honor as a competent human being...

Took a well-deserved vacation last week and the tank was a little neglected but when I came back everything was doing well and still going strong. I decided to add a mini protein skimmer to the back chambers, it’s been a little over a year to make this decision. Because I felt that it didn’t necessarily need one. Although it is still in its Break-in period. It has produced very little to nothing in the production of skimmate. Despite all the supplements that is added weekly along with phytoplankton and zooplankton, still hasn’t put a dent in any production of skimmate. When I got back from vacation I noticed that I have new growth on the mangroves which is pretty awesome since these little trees take a long time to show any signs of growth etc.All of the corals seem to be happy with a couple of the Montipora Show some slight fading in coloration which makes me believe that I need to dose more magnesium. I’m not too sure if I need to set up a dosing machine for this tank yet but I shall see in the upcoming weeks if manual dosing is not enough

The GHA is slowly dying off as the protein skimmer is finally getting some work it’s cut out for. I don’t know why I didn’t do it sooner

So the tank has been going quite well.

the hair algae has been dying off over the past couple months with using vibrant. But a lot of the corals are being stressed out by it unfortunately and fading colors and polyp extension is very minimal. But over the next week I’ll try to minimize the vibrant dosage to boost the overall health of the corals

Love this system, it looks like the Vibrant really hammered your sps, hope some of them bounce back.

Yes unfortunately it did, they need to change the label cause it’s not “reef safe”

That’s awesome that it treated the hair algae. Hopefully the effects on the coral can be turned around.

I hope so too! It took a massive toll on my macro algaes unfortunately I will have to restock some of them maybe @inland_reef can hook a brother up?
