asting Posted October 8, 2016 Very cool! your photos aren't bad - still pretty sharp for a macro from a non dedicated photo setup. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Clown79 Posted October 8, 2016 I think the experience in itself is worth the try. I hope it all works out. I look forward to seeing pics of the progress 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
seabass Posted October 8, 2016 Day 4: Looks like it's getting close. Unfortunately, my rotifers were coming from Florida and won't even ship until Monday. If they hatch before Tuesday night, I'll have to lose them. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
aibocyrus Posted October 9, 2016 This is really cool to read and see the photos! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Pjanssen Posted October 9, 2016 So cool. Hope the little babies wait until you can support them. In my experience, most first time babies are late (of course, that's humans, but...)being hopeful. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

RayWhisperer Posted October 9, 2016 What are you on, day 4? Not yet.... Once the eggs turn silver, you'll need to pull them. They'll hatch that night. Not to be a buzz kill. However, you may want to let this clutch go. It'll prolly take you a month to get productive rotifer cultures up and running. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
seabass Posted October 9, 2016 I was worried that might be the case. You are probably right. I was hoping I'd get the cultures today, but hurricane Mathew put the kibosh on that. We'll see how it works out; I might have to treat this as a dry run. At a minimum, I'll keep updating this thread until they hatch. 4 Quote Share this post Link to post

Pjanssen Posted October 10, 2016 Thanks everyone! Day 5: I see eyeballs! 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
seabass Posted October 10, 2016 Dad won't leave them (day or night). Even when he eats, it's just a quick bite then right back to them. It's funny how that's so strongly programmed into them. Especially since he has likely never witnessed this behavior before. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
teenyreef Posted October 10, 2016 Following along - I'm looking forward to the next spawn when you have the rotifers ready to go! I've had mine spawn a few times but I always just figured it was free fish food 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
