ReefWeeds
That's perfect- I have a ton of bubbles coming out the bottom of my blue tube?? Looks like less water yours is sitting too. I am getting a lot through the main tube but it's blasting out the blue one too. I'll go grab a pic.......stand by please I'll have to get up HAHA! Damn, getting up when you'e comfy and drinking coffee sucks Bubbles will come out of the bottom of my tube when I first start it up for a bit and after I clean it. Then they seem to go away pretty easily. I want to say I think Morgan had the same problem as you with the bubbles, but I can't remember how she fixed it. Link to comment
HarryPotter
My skimmer had a TON of bubbles coming out of the tube for 2-3 days but then it stopped. You want to keep the inside clean for the bubbles to encounter the least resistance while going up- if it's too dirty they will slow down and then go out the bottom tube. Link to comment
ninjamyst
Yes, it is! but I had one already in imgur! So I didn't even need to get off my a$$ to get you the photo I need that reactor. I hate the BRS one. So bulky. Link to comment
Sk8n Reefer
Ok, here's a pic- the chamber is clean- maybe the pump needs to be higher? I'll hit up Morgan too? You can see them being pulled into the blue- a ton is coming out the bottom of the blue tube ? Link to comment

If my skimmer is too clean, the bubbles are definitely more present. Once it's got a good slime coating, no bubbles. All skimmers from what I've read and experienced have a ton of bubbles when you first turn them on before they're broken in. I need that reactor. I hate the BRS one. So bulky. I love the IM minimaxes. I've got two running now. Well, only one running at the moment with some carbon. The other I use if I want to run GFO but I haven't run GFO in awhile. Ok, here's a pic- the chamber is clean- maybe the pump needs to be higher? I'll hit up Morgan too You can see them being pulled into the blue- a ton is coming out the bottom of the blue tube Hmm. Actually I'm not sure! My pump is located inside of the skimmer itself. that looks like a different setup? Or is that clear plexi on the sides adjacent to the white walls... Link to comment
spectra
Thanks Spectra I decided I slacked long enough so I overachieved a bit and dumped a bunch at the same time Did you see my LE Ghost Paly? I did and where are all those little LE Paly Slugs at Link to comment

Sk8n Reefer
I think you have the 302- my pump sits under the skimmer. Maybe I need to raise it slightly? Not sure. It's been running for weeks again now but no change it the amount of bubbles coming out of the blue tube. I'll send some shots over to SC and see what they say......I want coffee skimate !!! I swear I think I saw someone that created a little egg crate shelf for their 301 skimmer (yeah I have the 302 - I just went to look after I looked at your photos). It might have been JavaJacket. I think he had a photo of it on his FS thread. Let me see if I can find it. Link to comment
gena
I love gorgs so fluffy and flowy! Aww poor Chloe! I remember those days Stella used to chew her hair off all the time. Once she started taking that allergy medication apoquel, it literally was life changing for her. Allergy shots didn't work. Steroids. Nothing. But for over a year now she has been great! Is that medication something you had to go to a specialist for or was the regular vet able to prescribe it? I am so fed up with these allergy issues. I swear this is my last purebred dog LOL. I am so fed up with these allergy issues. I swear this is my last purebred dog LOL. Our normal vet prescribed it actually! We had been to a specialist who prescribed the allergy shots and did a whole allergy panel. Apoquel is pretty new (I think 3 years in the market) and we had to wait a year for them to produce enough to keep up with demand. But we finally got some and she has been on it since I think last February. here's the site: https://www.zoetisus.com/bmst-minisite-apoquel/index.aspx Stella has a sensitive stomach and is prone to things like pancreatitis, immune disorders, etc. You name it, i swear she has had it. So I always get nervous giving her medications (she's actually gone into anaphylaxis shock with lyme shots believe it or not), but she's had no adverse reactions to this whatsoever. And I hear you. I love Stella, love Bichons. But with all her allergy and other issues, I don't think I could bring myself to get a bichon again We've had nothing like this with the two standard poodles. I bookmarked that page...thanks for the link! If I can't get this to clear up on my own I am definitely going to ask the vet about this medication. There's a kelp supplement I've been giving her and I'm going to stop using it to see if that is what is causing the itchiness. Maybe an ingredient used in it? And just keep her on a quality dog food and fish oil. Of course I can't keep her from eating crap out in the yard. She likes these seeds of some sort from one of the trees. She likes to munch on orange peels from the trees in the yard LOL. She's a weirdo. I'll wait a couple of months and see if there is an improvement..hopefully there is . It's just so frustrating. You cure one thing and then something new pops up . Link to comment

She's allergic to grass, maple trees, oak trees, you name it. So when I see her trying to eat the little helicopters that come off of the maple trees in the spring/summer, I just start thinking "here we go - itchy breakout coming". Link to comment

Sk8n Reefer
I think you actually have it in too little water.Hmmmm.....I hope not- that would be a tough solution to fix. It looks pot on the Stellablue's pic- a few inches about be the elbow on the blue tube. I just measured it and it's in 8.5" of water. I sent some pics over to SC- hopefully they will have suggestions too. When I've placed some floss to raise the level the skimmate was even more watery Link to comment
ReefWeeds
sump cleaning day. I've been putting it off gluing up the crap on the frag racks too and the stuff in the sand bed. I hate putting my hands in the tank so I end up holding off until it bugs me enough that I can't take it anymore. Link to comment

Just muck up the bottom and let it go to the display to be filtered again? Link to comment

Well, I get a build up of cyano in some parts in the fuge, so I clean that out and then siphon out any crap on the bottom in the left chambers and the right chambers. I'm not going to mess with the fuge except for wiping out the cyano. Powerhead and a water change I guess. Oh or suck shit into filter socks! You can use a powerhead to suck up the detritus on the bottom directly into a sock ... but if you don't have filter socks, that's not an option Link to comment
