Very nice on a new phone!! Picture looks bright and colorful!!

thank you, kimber!

i fed the candy canes for the first time! also the lobo

and red mouth ric with oyster feast. the latter's red mouth

really popped out for the food today. :D

just now under dusk lights:

Nice lobo :) Sorry about the worm though, hope it pulls through

thanks. he is out in the open. 4 inches and last

half inch is broken. :( my only hope is that it's

replicating itself, but seems unlikely.

so the worm retreated into the rock work,

went to the back of the tank, wiggled around

there a bit, and then tonight after dinner, i saw

it was back up front, where it originally had been.

BUT i noticed that its tail is broken. :(

dustertail.jpg

my only hope is that it's replicating. from an article

i found at advanced aquariast:

"Soft tube varieties reproduce sexually, but many form dense colonies of clones by a budding process called scissipary. In this process the posterior end of the worm breaks off and develops a new crown while the "parent" grows a new posterior."

seems a bit of a stretch though.

aiiiiiii

as of now, the feather duster is the biggest animal

in my tank.

Just keep feeding it! fingerscrossed

Patience!!

thank you, ladies. i did feed the duster

this morning. it is still out in the open like

last night. my tank is small and it doesn't have

many places to go.

my nem that was "cuddling" with the giant one--

which covers it half the time--has had enough and

also went for a walk about last night. it's now at the

very back of the tank where it isn't getting light. i was able

to spot feed it today--but will have to move it if it starts bleaching.

aiiiiiiiii

documenting for any future people like me googling

like mad on these worms--with limited anecdotes really

online. other than that they die within 2 days usually of

leaving their tubes. today is day 2 for us.

front view. i know the worm is segmented and can

regenerate like an earthworm if it loses tail. so i keep feeding.

Adventures of the Feather Duster  From the little bit I've read about them, it sounded like feeding them long-term was a problem? So keep feeding the tank and it should grab something. I've got a bottle of Oyster Feast I haven't opened yet but really should. Do you just turkey baste it onto the corals with the pumps off?

I've had a few nems wander off and fade in color, but they've also both come back up into the light and into a better feeding position. They're also a huge PITA to move! So if yours goes out of spot-feed range I'd consider just letting it be. It can come back when it wants too :D.

the dusters are a lot cuter when they stay in their tubes... bleh

DON'T HATE ON MY NAKED DUSTER WORM!

i think its actually fascinating, but also quite monsterous.

very ALIENS.

Feeding phyto and microfoods should help the duster regenerate it's tush cover.

thatnks, kat! i have the phyto feast, but not using

anything else. the only other is oyster feast. might try

that too?

honestly, color me surprised if the duster lives.

yes! i use a pippette. it does this weird

stringy thing. strange! and i'll leave hiding nem

be. but if it fades i will try and rescue. have seen

stubborn nems die from not going back into light.

i upgraded to an iphone6 yesterday!

happy 2015 to me! :D

and the fotos it takes are so much better

than the old iphone4s i had. so here is a better

shot of the little rainbow lobo. also the new candy

canes i picked up with it. :)

HAPPY 2015, friends!!

Nice pick up on the iphone6. Did you get the 6 or 6 plus? Hopefully yours last! I had one (6plus) for a day and a half, nothing but issues right out of the box. Glad to see your camera was/is working. Mine just had a blk screen. The rest of the phone worked okay but it tended to get really hot alot for being just out of the box, I took it to the apple store 2 hours after activating it and they said it was normal. I had such a bad time trying to exchange it with another....it was a joke really considering the phone is not all that anyways. I got rid of it 2nd day and picked up the more powerful note edge-dual quad core processor, better camera better phone. My buddy has the regular 6 and the phone has a curve in it now, somehow it bent??.

I'm not bashing your phone, just sharing my experience with it. I really wanted it to be better but still no comparison to a Samsung. If I was you I would definitely get the apple care plan, this way you are covered. If anything goes wrong with it, you can take it directly to an apple store and they will put it on the "genius bar" and replace it on the spot if necessary.

I wish I could have played with the camera a lil, seems like it takes a pretty decent pic for a phone.

Anyways sorry about all that ^^^¡

How's dusty, and how's the rain lobo doing?

man. that's a bummer. i've not had any problems yet.

as far as bending or feeling hot. everything is working as it should.

but i almost never buy a product straight off. nowadays, it seems

everyone launches a new thing without it being ready yet.

hopefully, i don't have problems. ha! i've had iphone since

2009 and haven't had any problems. i do put it in a case first

thing though--like a strong case, and protect the glass too. have

broken the screen once and that was enough times.

the lobo is doing well! i've fed it a few times already and

she's pretty. dusty is still wiggling. not sure what the

outcome of this will be--but i'm keeping expectations low.

hello everyone! well, my naked duster is still alive.

it crawled to the front of the tank, and had pushed itself

into a hole in the live rock, and i thought it was happy...

until a stupid bristle worm came out at night to harrass it. :furious:

so it crawled to the side of the tank where i was able

to take a video of it. its segments are always shifting when

it's moving, so the colors change on its skin. the effect is

*really* cool. i still keep feeding, but i'm not sure how well

it is doing. it still has a break in its tail. i tried to get the bristle

worm twice but it was too fast for me.

please send good wishes for my naked duster worm--that

it'll settle somewhere and make another tube.

It had pretty good reason to leave its tube but it should not take long to generate new tube. Be on the look out as naked FD is irresistible snack to many

thank you! thankfully, no major predators

in the tank other than the bristle worm who didn't

like the duster in its hole/space. hmm.

this morning, worm was quite wiggly after i dosed

with phyto feast. has a sprinkling of black sand on

the back of its head, and i'm hoping it is starting to

make another tube for itself. i don't think it makes another

tube until it feels setted or happy.

ALSO, pretty sure i saw it poop this morning. very

happy about that.

please send good vibes for my giant worm! :)

Yay poop!!

Such odd things that make us happy about our tanks...

I see you figured out the video thing :). That is so bizarre how it looks and moves! I said a little prayer for your worm .

isn't it tho? its skin is shifting colors

constantly. it is beautiful to watch. there aren't

many videos on youtube of a naked duster

that i could see.

there was a bristle worm near it again

tonight. hope it doesn't harrass the gentle

giant. thank you for the little prayer!

I loved that video - such a rare opportunity to see how they move around when they want to! Good vibes for your naked worm - he seems to be strong and it's a good sign that he's eating.

thanks teeny! i feel the same way.

i don't think there is a lot of info out on these

worms at all. he has as sprinkly of black sand

on the back of his head, and i'm really hoping its

his intent to build another tube.

stupid bristle worm still keeps hanging around

near it. i caught a baby one and dumped it in the

trash. :furious: the one that keeps crawling around his

feathers is much bigger and too fast for me.

i read that some critters will eat the worm feathers

too, so i'm keeping a vigilant eye out. who knows what

can happen at night though. Survivor Tank!
