How do you like it?? aww, thanks kimber! i don't see them as any more bright or colorful than yours! i really like the nanobox. it's to have the settings programmed to turn on and off, and i like seeing the neon corals lit at dawn and dusk. this balano foto was taken with kitchn lights on. as it's not usually extended this big when the mini tide is on. owenj
oh jaime, you know you wanna... Ermagurd, you've no idea! I totally thought of you when I saw them too If I get the tank moves done today/tomorrow and everything looks alright I may take a trip back to the LFS. They had several in stock, ranging from single to I think up to a 5-head colony, so I'm hoping they still have one left. Link to comment

cindyp
these last weeks have flown by and i've been so busy, didn't realize it's been so long since FTS. here it is at 18 weeks: my mushrooms and flower nems are all growing and doing well. so is the dendro and balano and frogspawn. i've lost the fungia plate, losing the favia (despite two lugoels (sp) iodine dips) but my rainbow acans are bouncing back. i've lost too many fish: rainford goby (starvation. ) green clown goby (jumped--have since covered top with mesh) tail spotted blenny (died mysteriously--very sad about this one) the yellow clown goby eats like a piggy and keeps on truckin'. my two sexies are 9 months old in tank and doing very well. my bam bams have also grown well. and my agaves have grown from 2 to 6 heads and stayed at 6 heads for a few months. i recently just got the nanobox mini tide and like it a lot. antsypants
Gotta love worms I think any non-reefer would think I'm crazy if they heard me say that lol I do, however, believe your feather duster is actually a christmas tree worm; perfect for the season! Link to comment

cindyp
from this article: http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2002/9/inverts "Unlike most worms that only live for relatively short times (a few years on average), Spirobranchus are a relatively slow growing worm that lives for a very long time in the wild. Researchers used X-rays to determine the age of the worm by counting the annual growth rings of the corals in which they were embedded, and found that the majority of worms were more than 10 years old and some were over 40 years of age (Nishi and Nishihira 1996)! On average, a healthy worm grows about 0.2mm in the diameter of the tube opening each year, but under ideal conditions the maximum growth rates are up to 1.0 mm increase in orifice diameter per year (Nishi and Nishihira 1996). In any case, these worms appear to average roughly 15-20 years old in some natural populations (Nishi and Nishihira 1999), which means that they should easily live for more than 10 years on average in the aquarium, if provided with proper care." "However, our dismal success rate with these animals for more than a year or so in the aquarium suggests that we are failing to provide them with anything approaching ‘proper’ care! That means we cannot delude ourselves into thinking that the animals died of old age if they fade in our aquariums within a year or two (no matter how comforting we may find that excuse), and that is why I suggest they be avoided by any but experienced aquarists who want to experiment with maintaining these beautiful animals." well, hell. No problem! And yes, I am with my tank Updates to come soon, hopefully heh. Been busy gorging myself with home cooking. As for the article, I would have hope. Many of the animals we keep, we assume to be frail, but they've surprised me with their hardiness on more than one occasion. I read, after finding I had a mussel hitchhiker, that it would die off shortly, but it's been with me for at least 10 months now, and it's growing. It's obviously very different from your worm, but what I'm saying is to keep your fingers crossed Link to comment

gena
thanks, gena! i've shifted and did a nice cleaning and WC today, so hopefully it settles and is happy. i also got oyster feast for the acans, and it is weird! anyone else use? i stopped by ASD today and mentioned to one of the guys about GBG and he was like, we had some. WHAT. i'd only been gone for less than a week. so i gave the owner a stern talking too, and he blamed his employee who bought fish. hopefully it won't happen again! i looked at some other fish but none caught my eye. so shall wait more. the ycg seems to be doing well. it is a good eater and will eat off my tweezer! Darn...well at least you know you can get them! Hopefully on their next fish purchasing trip! I think everything will eat the oyster feast. My firefish even eats it LOL. Link to comment
