cindyp
How do you get your Goby to come out? Mine stays in a hole in one of the rocks and runs away every time it sees me. My wife must have been talking to it. i don't get my gobies to do anything. i think it's a personality thing, like people. and while both my gobies are out swimmign a lot in the open, neither of them will eat anything "easy". i put in .5mm new life spectrum pellets (or whatever) which everyone swears are great, and i watched my YCG take mouthfuls and mouthfuls and spit them right back out. i hope it gets better, because if not, then maybe i'm not meant to keep fish. Drexellake
Mine will eat pellets and pods, but only after a walk away. Link to comment

Drexellake
I'm hoping the same for you Cindy. Might just need more time to adapt. My African Cichlids never came out of the rocks in my FW tank until I fed them at the same time every day for about two weeks. Now when they see me coming they're freaking out waiting on me. cindyp
Any change? i *think* the ycg might be taking in a little of my new life spectrum pellets. the rainford has been pecking, but i don't think she's eating. she's looking very thin. sad. i'm getting coral frenzy in the mail soon. and might poke around the LCS to see what they might have in stock in terms of flakes or live foods. i've already spent $70 on pods in, like, the last two weeks. can't keep that going, alas. Drexellake
I picked up some frozen brine shrimp for mine. Seems to like it a lot, but a single cube is way too much for this small tank. I probably need to cut it somehow into smaller piece so I can use a little at a time. Link to comment

Nano sapiens
Rainford's are not easy and usually do best in a large tank, but fingers crossed for you. Does your tank have any filamentous algae for the Rainford's Goby? Since it is eating live brine, really important to have them 'gut loaded' with algae before feeding. Link to comment
kimberbee
I was gonna say... I did a little more reading and it seems they tend to pick on algae and not so much pods. I dunno if there's such a thing as algae flakes that it might eat or not. Link to comment
FlowerMama
what about trying a small piece of nori? I heard too, they'll scoop the sand and sift it. Link to comment
imkelz
How about those frozen Rotifers, might be worth a shot. Link to comment
cindyp
guys! i just picked up my first dendro from the weekend ASD sale and it is so beautiful! ASD got these a few weeks back, and i decided to pick up another flower nem instead (neon green pictured). but then i couldn't resist getting this one. it's already eaten some enriched brine shrimp! and thanks so much for all your suggestions! i picked up some enriched brine shrimp this time. man, i think my tanks is getting so dirty i keep trying to feed the fishies. the ycg is definitely eating and still spitting back out, but i think he IS eating some. i'm not sure about the rainford. she's continusouly pecking, but looking thin. it's my own fault for not having researched. tank just isn't established enough. Rainford's are not easy and usually do best in a large tank, but fingers crossed for you. Does your tank have any filamentous algae for the Rainford's Goby? Since it is eating live brine, really important to have them 'gut loaded' with algae before feeding. i had a hair algae problem in my 3g pico. but with this one, nada! the irony! though from research, it's up for debate. it might be the rainford is simply pecking at the pods IN the hair algae, as i did see my old tank crawling with them. *sighs* it seems they did eat maybe 20% algae but majority was pods. FlowerMama
I love dendro but the one I have has been slow to grow any more heads, don't know why. I feed it only like once a week though. Link to comment

I feed it only like once a week though. 1st, from what i read, they actually don't derive any nutrients from light, so more feedings would help. many feed daily! (meaty foods) Link to comment
BulkRate
Really nice! I have a low-light corner of my tank that could use some dendros... pity everyone here only carries the "fathead" variety or mismarked tubastrea. If your yellow clown goby's trying to eat NLS pellets then you're halfway there already. Lightly crush the .5mm pellets down and try that. Even the smallest pellet is often too large for them when they're young. Link to comment

FlowerMama
Yeah, mine's been in the less lighted part of the tank for sure the entire year and still has not grown another head. I brought it over from my Evolve 8. Maybe one day I'll be surprised with a baby on the side. Link to comment
