kimberbee
this is the first time, yes. but quite the upheaval. i hope it's just hidng and okay. the irony is, i bought the (RANCID) pods for her!! I'd try not to worry, and check back later. First you dump gross stuff in her tank, then you take all her water away! Link to comment
gena
right? i hope nothing dies. and hub will come home and ask: why does it smell like farts in here? Ok...have to admit I got a chuckle from this . Yikes on the rancid pods!!!!!! I've learned to do a smell test on anything I put in my tank. I've picked up rotten egg smelling phyto before. Now I smell it before I leave the store. Water changes are definitely the way to go. I hope everything will be ok!!!!!! I can't say I've had this experience before (in a small volume tank). Keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!!! Link to comment

Yay...glad the fishy is out!!!! Well, I haven't seen any hydroids recently. But I may go sit down and look for them in case I overlooked them. Not sure I've actually seen any in either of my current two tanks. I've definitely had them in other tanks though. If I see them I'll scrape them out for sure! I have a ton of those other worm things that I don't knowt he name of . They are white and mostly in the sand but a few on the rocks. Maybe they are called spaghetti worms? Sounds right. owenj
Reef tanks, always learn something new . Eww, rancid pods. I used to dose my tap water for my freshwater tank with Prime, and the sulfur smell off that would make you think DON'T add it, but there you go. Hubby isn't very "in the know" about my fish tanks, but leaves the room if the Prime comes out. Agree with the others, little water changes, maybe some carbon to speed along this blip . Glad the goby has resurfaced. Link to comment

cindyp
hello friends! no real news today. i tried to get another flower nem but it was sold--so i'm going to window shop tomorrow when i go pick up the new pods which will preferably not be rancid. i think my goby looks hungry. i had a great skype session with some teen readers in omaha today. they looked, like, totally bored for the 30 minutes i talked, but then perked up in q&a and told me i was great. ha! i guess you can't gauge how well you're doing by the boredness of a teen's expression? i wanted to share my latest brushpainting. it's a kingfisher and he makes me smile. i've been studying painting since 2001, but am pretty much a "newer" student in my class, with many going on three decades of learning. All my spare time goes to reefing . what medium? or all knds? chinese brush is on rice paper and similar to watercolors. and i say as long as you have something to give joy and help relax. reefing, other than screw ups on my noob part, certainly is that for me. he sure is a cute little guy. thank you! i've thought about corals as a painting. they definitely are NOT a traditional subject in chinese brush art and i think they would be super challenging to paint! cindyp
Cindy that is so awesome--Kingfishers are my favorite birds! thank you! they are a classic chinese brush art subject, often paired with lotus. but, sadly, i've never seen one in real life!! wah! do you? if so, can i ask whereabouts? i dropped off my paintings for our annual brush painting show today. yay! this little was just painted so likely will be in the show not until next year. i might enter him for the county fair next summer too. cindyp
Really am enjoying your tank, and your artwork is phenomenal I have a slight obsession of drawing sporadically thank you! i can't draw very well, unfortunately. but some of my art peers in class DO draw well, and are the best painters in class too. no coincidence, i think. here's the new flower nem i picked up at ASD yesterday! the one with an orange face sold, but i liked this one too. he's big, maybe 2 inches across, bigger than my other two nems. i put him next to the other brown one, and here they are cuddling. he was on sale for $25! BARGAIN if you ask me! Link to comment
kimberbee
I think I need a second one so mine can cuddle too! Link to comment
cindyp
I think I need a second one so mine can cuddle too! i love the flower nems!! do it!! and i forgot to mention, i dropped a bag of tisbe pods into the tank. i don't think my rainford goby is faring well. i've tried feeding it different things like mysis, reef frenzy, and pellets, but i can't tell if she's eating it. but her belly is sunken. she poked out from her hiding spot (she is hiding more too, which has me thinking she's feeling weaker) when i dumped the pods in. though i read reviews and it seems maybe pods are eggs? and in a few days, if you're lucky, there will be a pod explosion? but just as many buyers have nothing happen. frustrating. i'm going to try and buy some new life spectrum pellets to try next.
