gena
i've not read roberts but to me reading reading and is great! =D i started out as a fantasy writer then sold as YA. both can get snobbed at--but i love reading & almost everything! and you should have seen my oh sh1t face when i read up on scooter. haha! the green clown is so cute. but currently wedged under rock by the other goby.Yeah, it's great that you were able to trade it in. It would have competed with the rainsford for food and both would have lost (most likely) in just 8g of water. I've never had either of those fish before (rainsford and scooter), but have always admired them. Link to comment

cindyp
i'm heartbroken! i had seen the green clown hiding underneath a rock last night at 1am after watching a movie. then this morning, i couldn't see him anywhere. i looked all day. i mean, i only have a 6g display area but there are a lot of hiding places. just now, hub found the shriveled dead goby in his exercise jacket he'd thrown on the floor next to the tank. it's crazy because i only have like a small corner 1 inch opening (triangle shaped) on the tank. though the 1/2 inch openings from the glass edges. so sad. i really loved that little clown the few glimpses i had of him. maybe i need to make one of those screens some of you have? is that DiY? the kicker is the place where i bought him from has NO lids on any of their small display tanks for fishies! cindyp
oh now. dang it. So sorry. thanks, 1st. feels like poor karma for me and fishies so far. on the upside, i think my rainford is doing okay? Link to comment

Tamberav
So sorry for the loss They always seem to find any opening. I know my jawfish actively looked for a spot to get out of. Never had a clown goby though. Do you see the rainfords eating anything? They sift sand but your sand looks too large for a rainfords to easily sift. They also pick at algae, even macro algae. cindyp
good morning, friends! i'm waiting to skype with a library in omaha right now, but there has been some sort of technological or scheduling confusion. still bummed about the green clown goby. not sure if i'll pick up another fish soon. the rainford is very friendly and out and about all day when my tank lights are on. when i turn it off and it gets dark, she retreats to beneath the rock or inside of it. i've seen her taking sand in her mouth then spitting them out through her gills (?). she's also been pecking a lot around the tank, and i'm hoping its at the copepods! anyway, here she is. i like her a lot, she's very sweet and not super shy for being a teeny fish. also, very pretty! Making a screen top is not hard to do at all and will only cost you a little bit. It pays for itself after the first time you hear a fish hit the net too! cindyp
So cute! I want! isn't she darling? i've read that they often starve from lack of algae and enough critters to eat. i'm not above begging for a frag covered in hair algae if i have to. haha! irony, as i said, i had a huge hair algae problem with my 3g pico. 8g so far is clean due to my use of chemipure elite. owenj
novels are definitely a journey. i'm not a fast writer compared to my author friends, 1k a day is good for me. good luck on querying soon! i got 121 literary agent rejections and dozens of editor rejections too. everyone did, including Rowling. i fell in love with fantasy reading western stuff too! but my published novels are chinese inspired fantasies. Awesome! Yea, I'm not super thick-skinned but I know realistically that rejection is inevitable My guilty pleasure is reading Nora Roberts . I love her murder/stalker infused with sex/romance, stories . That's what I would write if I ever were to sit down and write a book. I enjoy fluff . I'm sooooo glad they let you trade in the scooter for the GCG. You won't be sorry. They are darling little fish. My guilty pleasure are cozy knitting mysteries. I'm such a dork. But, everyone deserves a bit of fluff. i've not read roberts but to me reading is reading and is great! =D i started out as a fantasy writer then sold as YA. both can get snobbed at--but i love reading & almost everything! and you should have seen my oh sh1t face when i read up on scooter. haha! the green clown is so cute. but currently wedged under rock by the other goby. Exactly, reading is reading. Honestly, everything gets snobbed at by someone somewhere. It's the darker side of the internet & there being so many of us Sorry to hear about the little goby . It's so frustrating how small the holes they manage to escape out of can be. Link to comment
gena
Oh....so sorry about the GCG . Maybe later after you get the lid you could try again . The rainsford is so little and adorable! Link to comment

Oh....so sorry about the GCG . Maybe later after you get the lid you could try again . The rainsford is so little and adorable! thank you, gena! and that certainly is an idea. i had a pom pom crab in 3g and he died. i don't think i'll ever try a pom again. but i'd love to have a gcg. the rainford is "social" and out and about all day, *seeming* like she's eating. i hope she's actually getting some food. i, for one, can't see all the pods i had bought and released. ha! Drexellake
If your light isn't putting out too much heat you can go to your local Lowes or Home Depot and have them cut acrylic for a top. Just measure the tank. They have different thicknesses, just get what you feel comfortable with. Blocks less light than screens and egg crate. It also seals off the top better and slows down evaporation. Link to comment

True, I could be trying to become an actress, or singer for that matter I'm fortunate to have a good critique group that recently formed, plus a few faithful beta readers/friends. sounds like you are on the right track for sure then. good luck!!! procrastinating before lunch and writing, trying to add words to the novel. 500 words the day before, dragging in the last hour before i had to get my bubs. then 826 words (yes, exactly, we count every word!) yesterday. not bad. here's another foto of my very social rainford goby. (a side view of my little 8g.) Link to comment
cindyp
i've also spied a strange not fully seen hitchhiker beneath my GSP frag. it's two tentacles coming out, about 2+ inches long at least that is seen, with little feelers or whatever along it. at first, i had thought it was just slime and didn't pay much notice. but now, weeks later, i finally had a good look and they are alive and sweep out. they *might* be bristle starfish arms, but the ends are blunt? maybe they always are. and it's not striped as i'm used to on my brittlestar. very weird. alas, no photographic evidence. i think too hard to capture--also not easily seen or always out.
