cindyp
I lost a bristle worm today. did something eat it??? Link to comment
Drexellake
did something eat it??? You know I was wondering that myself because it was much shorter than the last time I saw it. Unless it was a different worm. I guess my shrimp could have chopped it. There's nothing else in there that I'm aware of, but the rocks have several holes and tunnels in them. Water tests fine and changed 10%. Link to comment

Drexellake
was it just dead then? First I saw it out in the light moving slightly, then a few hours later when I came home for lunch it was dead. Now I'm thinking it was a piece of one because the diameter was the same as the long one I saw, but much shorter. About 3/4" long. The one I saw originally was about 2" long. Creepy. Link to comment
fragtal
Your rainford is a cute little fellow! How big is he, he seems just right for the scale of the tank. Link to comment
atrox
My sexy shrimp stay parked on my torch coral. They stay under the polyps mostly, but will come out on top of torch to snag some munchies. Get a nice torch, they don't seem to be bothered by having a sexy clan call it home. Frogspawn and hammers may retract and not appreciate the sexual invasion. was it just dead then? Most likely something killed it and thought about eating it. Much like my cat and her bird presents she bestows upon me. Link to comment

Creepy. yeah, i've seen them super long. i mean, i'm pretty sure the one in my tank is maybe 5 inches? they can shrink too, it's when they stretch full length. creepy! Your rainford is a cute little fellow! How big is he, he seems just right for the scale of the tank. she is super sweet and out and about the entire time i have my lights on. i love her a lot. i'm just not sure if i have enough for her to eat. supposedly, hair algae and pods are needed. if you have a more established tank, you'd be safer than my lack of research before purchase. i'd say she's not quite two inches. maybe 1 3/4 inch? cindyp
midnight last night, and i had a peek at the tank before i went to bed. and there were the weird unknown hitchhikers! i turned the lights on, and amazingly, was able to get a few fotos. this one is OVER the gsp frag, coming from below. and i've seen another one come out just directly from underneath the frag. i think i've seen 3 total at once. you see why i thought they were just random drifting things. but they are sentient, and will dart around while out but also retract when frightened. i don't see them out in the day time when tank lights are on. i'm thinking impossible these are starfish arms. any idea what this is? and if it's harmful to my tank? thanks! Tamberav
thank you! is it bad? googling now on phone. I think they can be bad if they multiply out of hand. They have a strong sting that can bother things. Link to comment

They will multiply in your tank but if you have something like a mandarin or Cindy's cute gobie gobbling them up, you do have to replenish the supply regularly. If I'm not seeing any pods on the glass that usuallly tells me it's time to restock . I think they can be bad if they multiply out of hand. They have a strong sting that can bother things. Learned something new today . I've had them in my tank but never noticed an issue with them. I'll have to pay closer attention to them now. Link to comment
Dryland
I have those also. I never thought anything of it before this, but my zoa's are always distressed and there is an abundance of those little suckers growing among them... interesting... Link to comment

I'll have to pay closer attention to them now. gena learned something from MY thread?? i went to the LCS today and the guy recommended that i tweeze them out as they are on the one frag for now. aiii. playing doctor. BUT i had a MAJOR situation in which i decided to buy some pods as they were there and i needed them. he rec'ed this new kind: algagen tisbe. i looked at the instructions, it said just pour the whole thing in. it stank of rotten eggs. my whole house stinks of rotten eggs and my tank turned green. my noob spidey sense was like: HMMM. so i googled and the company said, should smell earthy and salty sweet maybe, NOT rotten eggs. if rotten eggs DO NOT USE. well, sh1t. i'd turned my really nice 8g into a toilet tank. the LCS let me get as much salt water i needed. he's sorting things out with his rep, who said the smell wasn't a big deal. i have a feeling his pervious customers that called didn't have such a small tank as mine. so all the gsp are receded, i have't seen my goby since all of this, and i think the tank is a little distressed in general. crikey. so the little jelly fish arm hydroids can live under the bloody frag for now.
