You should feel really accomplished!!!! The YCG is one of the hardest fish to get eating, in my experience. And you got it on the first try . Link to comment

teenyreef
Your dendro cracks me up, it's so...flamboyant I have a teeny tiny dendro I got for $5 as an add on to an order, and I still have to zoom in super close just to get a picture of it. I just posted a picture in my 4g build thread if you want to see what a baby one looks like. I agree, it is a lot of fun to feed. For mine, it took a little coaxing to get it to open up during the day, but now it opens up whenever I'm feeding. Link to comment

owenj
Hammer looks great. My old hammer would visibly eat when offered food, & one of my torches does too. The other torch grabs the food, but it's hard to tell if it actually ends up eating it or if it just hoards it for a while before releasing. GBGs are so cute! If you're still hooked on a firefish though, I'd recommend shelling out the extra cash for a helfrichi. Mine is out all.the.time. The writing it trudging along. Actually, I think it's getting close to ready, just need some final tightening. I used to think shorts would be cake, but omg, at least with novels you get the luxury of space and time to build your world or characters. This whole word limit, everything has to count & be in the right place deal with the short story is killing me I'm so sick of editing it. Gena, I think you have a niche market for steamy aquatic romance Link to comment

Do you ever see them on it? hmm. i've seen my sexy shrimp on my not so nice acan that was a freebie. but i moved that and i don't see on much anymore. haven't noticed as much for acan or favia. will keep an eye out. i was concerned a while back and considered giving them away, but then, things seemed to settle again, and i think they get a lot more food now that i have the ycg (which needs a name!). here is a great thread on nursing corals, including an amazing scoly turn around. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1918483 i admit i don't really directly feed the acan or favias much. Great link! Did you read all 38 pages? I only got through the first page. Wondering if there is a lot of good information throughout the thread? Maybe I can save my last plate. Except it's receding at the mouth and that seems to be a bad thing according to what the OP said on the first page. Good to know for the future though. I have bookmarked it . Link to comment

I have bookmarked it . i only read OP and his tips. i figure there's not really much else other than keeping flow and light low as well as feeding more. i actually nursed my bleached mushrooms from the LFS tanksitting disaster back to health. they are not 100%, but they are loads bigger, they close to eat (and they eat a lot!) and they aren't translucent white any longer. but mushrooms are so hardy. ha! might be worth trying with the plate if you have the lugol's dip? i don't even know what that is. i've never dipped before.
