cindyp
Sorry about the tank woes! Hang in there. thanks jaime! i did another water change yesterday and the dendro has reemerged with tentacles. i was so relieved and happy! didn't mean to be a nervous nellie, but i had lost the blasto so fast, i was expecting the worst. he even ate yesterday, so yay! also, amazingly, i went to bed around 1am last night and out of nowhere, i got the denouement and ending for my sequel that i've been working on. THAT is always the best. i had the setting, dialogue, so much. funny thing is, i didn't remember again until NOON today. haha thank goodness i remembered. aiiiii Link to comment
teenyreef
That's great, what a relief! Did your alkalinity improve after the water change? Link to comment

cindyp
hello friends! hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving and enjoying the long weekend! i got my replacement mini tide yesterday and got it up and running this morning. so i took time for a not great 13 week FTS! it's not the best due to challenge with reflection and i'm just using my phone, but it gives you an idea. my frogspawn in the corner has split to two heads and is getting BIG. aiiii. not sure what kind of shuffling i'll have to do when it outgrows that corner. all the flower nems are gianormous. i feed them at least 3x a week since i feed my goby and blenny daily. so nems get fed a lot. the neon orange mushroom has already made two babies, and the original and first baby have left its frag and moved onto the live rock. ALL the shrooms are doing great! and by dendro seems to still be a little moody, but healthy and well. 4 week Full Tank Shot 13 Week FTS Link to comment

cindyp
Wow! Everything really is growing! You get your nems locally, right? i do! i bought three from ASD that giant neon green one was on sale for $25. couldn't believe it. there are some amazing over at VIP (or there were) but i couldn't stomach the expensive shipping for one nem. owner of ASD has said it's been challenging to get more nems during winter months. but i have three happy ones for now. i might pick up one more if available again. i LOVE my nems! thanks, kimber. yes, the progress fotos are always fun. i'll do individual progress if i ever get the chance. off to go work on novel now for a few hours! cindyp
the dendro has been in my tank for 4 weeks. as TINYREEF has said, he is very flamboyant! and has mostly been big and gelantinous, though of late, it's been closed for a bit more often, i've noticed, i'm hoping to rest? i *think* it's grown. but due to its personality, it's almost impossible for me to tell. dendro 1st day in tank (not fully open yet) dendro today (4 weeks in tank) including my poor receding plate and favia. i haven't made it into LCS yet for dips or dosing stuff yet either. busy weekend. my blue agaves have gone from two to six! these are the only palys i have! only they and my zoas are thriving, i don't find myself drawn to them right now to buy more. what hasn't done well in tank 13 weeks in: dragon soul favia fungia plate (both receding) rainbow acan (receding and lost colors) WOW! the blues have come on on my mini tide as sun sets and the corals are *glowing* amazingly! had never seen that before in my tank. amazing. gena
I'm not a dendro expert, but yours looks perfect to me . Those agaves sure are pretty too! Link to comment
antsypants
Looking good your dendro looks like its gonna be just fine. Do you have a hammer in there? I just picked one up and I love it! Link to comment
kimberbee
Is it possible your mushroom is shading that blasto? I know that my ric wasn't doing great, but I realized my hammer was shading it too much. Moved the hammer and now the ric is getting better! It just wasn't as big and poofy as I thought it should be. (P.S. I just posted some acan pics!) Link to comment

(P.S. I just posted some acan pics!) my blasto is ded. it was near the zoas, but nothing was shading it. i moved it at the end, but it was too late for him. so sad. i'll check out your acan fotos! gena
I think that's a dragon soul favia??? Or something like that below the red mushroom? I'm not sure, but maybe they do require more light than a blasto. Maybe try moving it to a medium light area since that looks pretty low light in that photo. Link to comment
cindyp
i know. it died within 2 days. from my noob perspective, i didn't even know anything was wrong until it just shrank one day. then second day, dead. Oh yeah - these little underwater worlds can be heart-breakers when things like that happen. Once they come into our hands, we're responsible for them and we take it personally when one dies under our care.. Link to comment

We might have the same one. yes! it has neon green beneath. they were selling neon green and purple tipped ones at my LCS, and i opted for the all purple. owner said these are from indo, versus the others which are australian. i sort of regretted my choice for a nanosecond, but now i don't at all. i love the all purple tips and peep of green beneath. teenyreef
Looking great! The new light looks really good. I love watching the corals glow at sunset too. One of my favorite things about the Nanobox. Fingers crossed for your acan, though. There's definitely something wrong if you are saying you have trouble feeding them. In my tank, the acans are the easiest corals to feed. Just hold a Mysis shrimp close enough to touch them, or squirt some Cycolpeeze on them and they pretty much suck it in like a vacuum cleaner. There's really no time for other fish to steal the food. When they are receded like you've described it's really hard to get them to eat. Have you tried feeding them after dark? They usually open up better then. If you can start feeding them regularly they will get nice and puffy and will eat any time after that. Link to comment

cindyp
OH NO. i just noticed one of my flower nems is MIA. the one that was "cuddled" up to the larger. how can this even happen? quick glance around my 8g and i can't see it at all. unless it's hiding behind rock work. wah! i have an appointment so can't look more right now. ps. i didn't think they could move THAT fast. but i didn't look this morning as i had a skype session with a HS. wah! kimberbee
Mine hides away sometimes too. Try not to worry, but look again later. Mine tends to pop out of the rock work after about 2 days. Link to comment

OKAY! i saw it scrunched on either side of rock right before i left. it is in a dark crevice though. and now, it's moved again. i think it's trying to divorce from the other nem. remember i put the new neon green one next to it to cuddle--the thing is like 3.5 inches across now and BIG. maybe smaller nem wants some space? will continue to observe. thanks, kimber! owenj
Most of my RFAs continuously walk around on their big rock. Only one or two have stayed put the whole time. My bigger green one likes to stay in one place for a few days, then moves somewhere new for a few days, then moves, etc. It's made the circuit of the rock a few times now . One of my orange ones went underground (rock) for a while to emerge on the backside of a different rock. I can see a wisp of its skirt through the rocks, little bugger. It never gets fed since I can't reach it/barely see it back there, but apparently that's where it wants to be. I've read a lot of conflicting advice on lighting for favias--some say medium to bright light, others say low. . My Baby's Breath hasn't changed a bit since I got it, & I've tried low and more mediumish light. It also never extends feeding tentacles or shows any inclination to eat. I give up Link to comment
