I'd still call it a fail. The person obviously has some idea of what they're doing (or they're paying someone else to care for the tank) yet they still feel the need to call it "purple live rock".

A pound of aluminum equals about 32 cans.

 

Cans average about 2 cents each.

 

If you were to purchase a $20 bulb, you'd need 851 cans.

 

Or something like that.

That is a really good deal. I think the stand alone goes for more than that. I'd only be worried about how safe his rock really is.

probably, but a few cheap koralias could easily be hidden in there to make it too turbulent for detritus to collect.

I'm currently looking for fellow reefers to donate full beer cans to me. They can have them back for the deposit.

 

Although another forum I lurk on is the home brew forum..I suspect that one day I will need to build an aquarium with a beer tap plumbed through it. Perhaps it would need to be a temperate tank.
