opaquelace
Oh lol I didn't know that. It's my first smart phone. I feel like an old person since I don't know what to do. And yes my two firefish hang around each other all the time. In fact the two clownfish and the firefish all seem to group together. The firefish sleep together in the same burrow. Their beautiful tails are shredded to pieces though from my starry blenny that is now back at the LFS for sale. Thankfully they gave us a $20 store credit. I'm surprised he didn't kill them. One fish has almost no tail at all right now. The favia recovered really nicely from his picking though so hopefully my firefish do the same we've had them for almost 2 years now? I think. I think next on my list is going to be a yellow/orange plate coral. My tank needs something yellow/orange. My growth has been kind of taking off recently. We had a few issues when the Kessil started to flicker on and off (just needed a good compressed air cleaning, the salt creep got inside) and had switched to the metal halide pendant I have for back up and it washed everything out. Then we got zoanthid eating nudi branches and as you can see the pink ones are just starting to recover/get their skirts back after a month. It took some TLC to get them to open back up. They'd been closed for so long they got an algae film so they wouldn't open. I scrubbed them with a tooth brush and put them in the shade. They're finally coloring up again too. They were almost hot pink before. Now with the Kessil back everything is just really, really happy. Also we took off our canister filter and are running just a protein skimmer at the moment for filtration. We'll add a reactor in a few months probably. Link to comment
gena
Someone had to tell me about the phone camera too. I'm still learning new things about my iPhone daily LOL. I'm so electronics challenged, it's not funny. My husband got "mad" at me today because I couldn't figure out how to input an address on the GPS and he had to pull over to do it . Electronics aren't my thing at all. Is that a conch in the video? Link to comment
opaquelace
Yep a conch. He's pretty fun to watch. Link to comment
Lalani
Inside my "in tank refugium" Look at Lalani's red people eater Those flower nems are awesome! Link to comment
opaquelace
Tropical fish bowl lain. Also wanted to tell you they have a blue maxi mini carpet for 40 bucks...they did Saturday at least. It was beautiful but we hot the flower nem instead. Link to comment
opaquelace
This is what happens when I stand by the tank. They think they're getting fed...or at least the female does. Link to comment
opaquelace
We got a gift certificate to the local fish store and I took Marilou. We came home with 3 frags and a frag rack. Got the first acan lord frag I've ever owned. It's purple green and white! A new ricordea. My lime green ones withered away a few months ago for some reason. This was really beautiful at the store and I'm hoping once it spreads open a bit more it will be nice. It's an awesome pastel green with fluorescent green mouths and a teal rim. I think I like the teal rim the most. Picked up a bright red/orange mushroom. It's a metallic kind. It looks like it has a gold iridescent shimmer to it. Around the mouth it turns sort of green and the mouth itself is bright purple. It's an unusual mushroom and I had to have it. It detached itself from its rock on the way home so it's in a tupperware for now with rubble. Picture of everything on my frag rack. Lalani's babies. This is a just because picture. It's not of anything in particular (just the ride side) but I like how everything looks so full and the colors are a fairly accurate real life representation. My sinularia leather learned what happens when it sways too close to the frogspawn. It has since been moved. The mandarin. He's out and about much more now that Elton John has left the building. He's starting to fatten up too which is great. I was worried for a second because I never saw him actively eating. Sorry it's so blurry. Link to comment
opaquelace
Good mushy pictures. Had to put some more rubble in the tupperware because it will still floating around. Now it's settling in. Link to comment
gena
Looks fabulous. Your tank looks so clean. I don't see a single bubble algae anywhere . I'm dealing with bubble algae galore right now...ugh. I shouldn't complain, it's so much better than dealing with bryopsis. Cute mandy. Or guess I should say handsome mandy . Link to comment

I've got bubble algae in hidden spots. Like under my flower anemones, or under my ricordeas lol. I always think other people have clean looking tanks and mine is so filthy. I did scrape the back glass the other day (cue Noah whining, he likes the coralline look!) and it made everything look so much cleaner. Amazingly I don't get much algae on the rocks, but I do keep a good amount of hermits/snails at all times. I order my snails from sealifeinc.net. Astreas...they're like lawn mowers. Also had some snails spawn in my tank and now I have little babies everywhere. As for the mandarin I'm really hoping he fattens up soon. He's still a little too scrawny but he hasn't gotten any scrawnier than he was when he came home so that's a good sign. And a from the top photo of the mushroom so you can see the true metallic nature of this thing. It's still kinda small in my tank but it was probably about 3" across at the LFS. I'm looking forward to it making plenty of babies. Link to comment

Cleaning the back glass makes a world of difference. I'm keeping mine clean too. I used to let coralline take over my tanks (me being lazy)...not this one. It looks soooo much better when it's sparkling . It helps to have a really good algae scraper too. Link to comment
opaquelace
I need a better algae scraper. I specifically need something to get in the rounded corners at the bottom. I usually have to make do with scrubbing near the sand bed with my hands in the round corners. I just cleaned up my tank this morning since I was home with just Marilou and she was watching "printhesses" Now it's sparkling. I also moved my acans into place as well as my ricordea and my new (from last week) flower anemone. I'm still waiting for that pesky mushroom to attach. I think I need a shot glass because the tupperware is too big and it's tumbling around like a tumble weed. The acans were a little mad still from being moved around. Link to comment
Lalani
Nice additions! The metallic mushroom is puuuuurdy. And say hello to my little preciouses for me Link to comment
opaquelace
Lol i will they're resting peacefully on my frag rack. Although your clove polyps fell to the sand but they're happy and don't care apparently. Link to comment

Kirk_M
Looking really nice. What part of LA are you from? Link to comment
opaquelace
The bonsai should definitely color up. No algae sex in there and a Kessil light. I'm so excited to see what it does. Just need to figure out where I'm going to put it. The orange/pink yumas are going to go by my other ricordeas as soon as we get some glue. I kinda went...crazy...with the super glue in there the other day and used up a whole tube of the reef glue from TFB. O.o Also Lani those "orange" yumas are pretty gosh darn rainbow. There is purple, green, blue, and orange. Very amazing. Kirk, I'm from Lafayette, or more specifically one of the dozens of small towns surrounding it. My husband and I are definitely planning on attending Fragniappe too with his best friend and our 16 year old niece who likes our tank. We're so excited about that. Hopefully we can find a baby sitter though. Eep! Link to comment
Lalani
lawl, I can't help that my algae gets all naughty and stuff! Can't wait to see how these guys do in your tank! And yeah, the orangy yumas are pretty darn cool and they make babies like crazy Link to comment
opaquelace
I'm looking forward to lots of babies. I've never had a yuma, and yours are probably the coolest I've seen in person. Link to comment
opaquelace
Also yay bonsai polyps!!! Link to comment
opaquelace
Coloring up nicely already. I think my favia grows a little more over the frag plug every day. It's also getting supah bright. Hulk clove polyps! My flower garden Ricordea garden. I think my green ric from TFB is finally settling in. It has 4 mouths so I'm hoping it will start to split soon. Orange Lalani yuma that I think has a baby underneath. There is a fluorescent green spot that I can't explain other than it is a baby...another baby. Pepto bismol pink yuma. Very, very happy pagoda cup. Link to comment
