Deleted User 6
I won't know till I try. Planning to have a near constant stream of food like pj86. So far the frag tank it is in has a stupid filter so I know the soup I fed it this morning is still in the water. The polyps have been out since the feeding. that's all well and good, but how will you handle the buildup of nutrients? ftr, i want you to succeed with it, but i've only seen one, maybe 2 ever make it. metrokat
^ then I hope this is #3 The Randalli pistol has set up shop on the opposite side of the tank from the Yasha. Anyone have any ideas on how to arrange for a meeting between those two? Link to comment
1.0reef
very nice! i love those gorgs! Link to comment
Trogdor447
I want that many frags at once good lord thats crazy! Link to comment
Spirofucci
Holy crapoly!!!! The only tank that I know of where the owners shoes match the tank! LOL. Just beautiful! Frag tank looks like LFS!!! GO GIRL. Link to comment
metrokat
I opened my cooler to try to fit yet another frag I didn't need at the swap on Sunday and KG was speechless for a moment. Then he goes. "You have a nano!!!" Oh BTW, add pulsing Xenia to the list of new additions. I got that yesterday. Thank you chilled_fire. I'll be aquascaping this weekend...... Link to comment

I got two of the same frags. Not sure if they're "blueberry" (are all gorgs with blue polyps deemed blueberry?)- but they seem to like cyclopeeze. I'm going to stick mine under the waterfall in my tank where John's Filter Feeder Formula goes daily, with the rest of the gorgs. Link to comment
Deleted User 6
The issue has never been providing them with enough food. It's easy to have a constant supply of food particles in the tank. The issue is nutrient buildup. Unless you have a solid, well thought through plan for that, you're flirting with a tank crash. Uhuru's tank is a great example to emulate for NPS corals: http://www.nano-reef.com/featured/?tank=36 Link to comment
Deleted User 6
As he says: "For those that want to attempt a non-photosynthetic tank, high water quality is just as important as frequent, appropriate feeding. I would go so far as to say it is actually higher on the list of priorities. In the vast majority of cases, water quality is the primary problem behind fish diseases, sick corals and failing systems." Link to comment
metrokat
So I took a perspective shot of the frag tank to show you how nano that is too. Link to comment

He also notes only a 25% wc a week. This frag is barely 1 inch big. At least for now, I hope I will not be over loading the frag tank with nutrients enough to crash it. In the mean time the frag tank where it is for the moment has live rock, a filter (lame as it is) and a lot of macro algae. Link to comment

I believe you can. What I'm saying is that he put a lot more thought and effort and money into his setup than you have at this point. He had an oversized skimmer and an ozone unit along with a good controller setup - quite different than your "lame filter." And the small size of your frag means that the road is going to be even harder for it. You're going to need to make sure it has a near constant supply of food in suspension and perfect water quality (if it is indeed a NPS gorg). I bring this up because I want your corals to live and thrive and for you to enjoy them (and frag them and give them to me). I'm often an ass, but not right now. Link to comment
metrokat
You're never an ass . I understand where you are coming from, and thanks for the links and info. Now I'll need some GL. I mean if you were expecting me to take my shoes off and cry because I bought a frag for $5 that may not survive, you're plumb out of luck D. Link to comment
Deleted User 6
On the contrary, I want that thing to grow huge and get a frag of it. What I don't want is for you to be flippant about keeping it and let it die without trying. Link to comment
metrokat
I've yet to be accused of being flippant! Just ask KG who gets midnight messages OMG my clown has a spot, OMG the frogspawn is going to die OMG the pistol is lost OMG I think I killed the Yasha. I think I'm a worry wart. But thank you for caring about my tank, I hope to frag this gorg for you. If it does not make it, it is not because I did not try. Link to comment

Joe Dirt
Paranoia is good for reefing sometimes. Better than being complacent, I imagine. Link to comment

Dexter. Paranoia is good for reefing sometimes. Better than being complacent, I imagine. Need some nana nut bread for when I'm spying on my tank in the middle of the night. Which I do every night BTW. Sometimes twice. Thanks to the nutty cat that wakes me up once or twice to escort him to the food and the bathroom. He's scared of the dark. Link to comment
