Scott Riemer
will monti caps out grow my tank? No, you frag them and then they won't outgrow your tank. I'd put them higher in the tank under 70W. Link to comment
Nanobuds
get the candy canes and monti cap. a cap is gonna be my next coral i get! Link to comment

Scott Riemer
thanks If you have nice ones, you can make a few bucks by selling frags to other people. Link to comment
marinebiologist
are you going to the marine aquarium expo scott? Link to comment
Nanobuds
ok. get the candycane first. then the monti. why dont u think you can get them yet? Link to comment
Scott Riemer
Also, I take it back. I got confused and forgot your tank is a 12. Anywhere in the tank should be fine under the 70W. Link to comment
marinebiologist
if i do get them ill get them together because im getting them from another reefer in LA. Link to comment
Nanobuds
how easy is it to acclimate shipped corals? Link to comment
marinebiologist
just acclimate them regularly. Link to comment
KeefyReefer
if your tank is fully cycled there should be no worry of adding either one of these corals... Under your lighting the monti cap can go anywhere, the candy cane I would place towards the bottom, or off to the side in an area that doesn't receive as much direct light this will help to prevent it from bleaching. what kind of metal halide fixture do you have? or is it diy? marinebiologist
its the top one. light fixture Link to comment

marinebiologist
has anyone been to the coral farmers market in socal? do the vendors have good deals? Link to comment
Scott Riemer
I went once but the corals being offered were what I would consider "high end" or LE corals. The best bet for good prices on regular corals would be at a SCNRS Frag Swap. Link to comment
qwiksilver711
pics Thats a neat fish! are those hard to keep? are they easy on the soft corals? I dont want to go the 'nemo' route with my 14 Link to comment
marinebiologist
hawkfish arent very hard to keep. he doesnt pick at my zoas or yellow polyps and they are really fun to watch. is it worth going to the coral farmers market? even if there are high end corals are there still some good deals on frags? Link to comment
Nanobuds
i have never been there... but i really like the hawkfish. lets see an FTS Link to comment
