jealous! i wish i got a dendro and not a sun coral

i read the sun coral only comes out at night?

that doesn't make for ideal viewing.

and thank you! i'm chuffed, i am. i hope it thrives.

the goby tail is hilarious. i hope he acclimates.

stubborn goat head. thank you, gena!

If he's eating the tiny NLS pellets, let those soak in some tank water for awhile...like 5 min. Then they are soft and he can eat them more easily. Even my firefish will spit them out if I don't let them soak first. So many stubborn goat heads in this hobby :D.

My sun coral is out and closed randomly throughout the day. Open fully at night though.

I feed it almost everyday - some days it's closed at dinner time. But it's def getting bigger!!

Mine did tHe same thing when I got it... would bite, swallow & spit out the same pellet over and over. Coarsely grinding it into 1/3ish chucks & soaking like Gena recommends worked for my case. Thing eats like a pig... anything any other critter is chowing down on gets sampled these days.

Sometimes it's play when they get bigger. Goofy, goofy fish... you'll love it once it settles in!

hello friends! so lights off and we

after dinner, i took a look at the dendro

and Holy Tentacles, Batman!

the frogspawn is all closed up and

nighty nighty, but i'm a bit concerned

that they might not like each other. aiii.

i don't have much choice in where i can

move these cuties either, other than to shift

them as far away from each other and hope

they're not bothered.

thank you gena and bulk! the guy at ASD had

actually recommended the same thing to me today.

i was like, what can i feed these stubborn sea goats?

we considered caviar but he thought that was too small.

will soak tomorrow, and also hoping that YCG chowing

will encourage curiosity of rainford.

NANO, i LOVE my gobies already. the yellow goby comes

in for landing on corals like an expert pilot. and my rainford

can swim in all directions!

TGIF friends!

here is my latest brush painting. our

teacher wanted us to paint red mountains

in celebration of autumn, but i just wasn't feeling

it. when i decided to switch to indigo, though, the

results were much better!

Wow!! That's cute!!

What do you do with all your paintings?

thanks kimber!

i give them away to friends or sell them. :)

i just sold two paintings at our annual brush art show

and made $500! more corals for me! ha

love ur paintings...remind me of old chinese movies

thanks NINJA! i usually paint cute things and bright colors,

like animals, birds and flowers. for the 13 years i've been

learning, this is only the 2nd landscape of mountians i've done.

it's a challenging subject for me. but i am very pleased with this!

I studied a lot of Asian art during undergrad, feeling nostalgic seeing your painting. Congrats on the sales!

you did? that's fabulous! i call it art therapy. i do it

JUST for myself. not like my writing. it changes things when

you do art aimed at selling. that's for sure!

That painting is lovely.

thanks so much, kat! i think i like it enough to

get it backed and matted! :D

Do it! I did a value study using an Asian painting as inspiration. Of course my version didn't look very Asian but I tried. It's on the top left in this grouping

oh you're an artist too! i love your work!

how long have you been painting? what medium?

only watercolors?

and i recognized the top left as asian inspired

ink study for sure! all these subjects are actually

classic chinese brush art subjects too!

i love how gelantious my dendro gets.

it's a Jelly Dendro! the dendro has been

eating meaty foods and some pellets like a champ!

my YCG also eating cyclopeeze and the really

crumbled and soaked NLS pellets. thanks for

the tip GENA and BULK!

my rainfordi, alas, is still pecking and looking thin.

i think there's some pods in the tank for it, not sure

if enough. i'm also not sure if she took some of the frozen

pods, i'm really hoping so. i'm hoping the YCG eating

will encourage the rainfordi to eat too. wish me luck!

eta: i just realized i've had the rainfordi for 5 weeks now.

longer than i expected, tbh. i keep trying. /noob mistakes.

Very cool tank. I like your corals stocking. Where did you get that cool looking dendro? I've been trying to get one but got a sun coral by mistake.

thank you!!

it's a red dendro (large head) from ASD.

i got it on sale for $30. the price should still

be good if you need info--message me. BUT

i'm local, so don't have to pay for the $50 shipping.

i'm very lucky they are local here.

thanks but $50 shipping is killing it...lol

totally. sucks. sorry, dude.

i've wanted to buy flower nems from VIP

and have had the same issue. i couldn't stomach

the $50 shipping. :(

Awww...I hope the rainfordi pulls through and starts chowing down on something. It doesn't look too skinny in that photo. Maybe try the frozen rotifers. If you have any hair algae in the tank (can't remember) just squirt it onto that algae and maybe it will eat it :).

Thank you. I'm a doodler to be honest, but watercolor is zen for me. I picked up the brush to do the paintings above (and others) after a hiatus of probably 10+ years. I just took up a class this summer, it felt great and those came out of that. The teacher was very open minded, pretty much let me do what I wanted. I've done a lot of oil on canvas, started with Bob Ross landscapes, then I did some still life, finally tried my hand at some figure paintings and portraits. I'm rusty for sure, but I could visibly see my confidence in my brush returning with every painting I made this summer.

that's wonderful! i'd encourage you to

keep going. love your pieces. and i call it

art therapy for a reason. ha! i love your use

of colors too.

also impressed by your gradations of gray

in the asian piece. that's something one has

to learn as a brush artist.

thanks gena. i'll add this to my list of foods to try.

omg, i'll be $200 with an ever skinny pecking rainfordi.

here's to hoping at least.

i don't know what to go by. but it's belly is definitely

a little concave. it hasn't gotten *worse* though. and

it doesn't help that someone posted their "fat" rainfordi

that eats flakes in another thread and it's like 2x thicker

than mine. haha!
