I came home late and my 6line is still alive and so are the clowns so all is good.

In other news, was late because I had to go over a contract with the modular company. What stinks is that the property I was shown on Sat wasn't for sale yet but this property was best suited for the house I was building as there wouldn't be a basement so it ended up being more costly than the property I originally was looking at but that one wouldn't work. $3000 more after they negotiated w/ the seller but it only cost me 1500 more as the mod company ate the other half. The mod company is also eating the closing costs of 4000 so I guess it all could be worse.

So It still all turned out more than what I was initially hoping but is still 135 less a month total and my car insurance will go down another 20 so I'll be free to give my credit cards 155 more a month to get them down.

Colors, flooring, etc all picked out. Light Olive green with black shutters and dark charcoal/black roof. 3 bedroom, 2 full bath 1350 sq ft. I became emotional signing the papers to get the process going as I explained to her what happened to Don, that I'd spent 3 yrs in this duplex apt w/ my husband. All of the organizing I've done w/ this garage sale and looking room through room, it didn't hit me as at that moment, when I'd be agreeing to leave this home of loving memories with my soul mate. I know memories go with you, but still. I cried all the way home.

I cried all the way home from the Vet's office the other day. There was a woman in there that reminded me soooooo much of my mom. It was uncanny. Derek said I should say something to her, but I hardly got out of there without bursting into tears.

Life is rough sometimes.

The house sounds really nice! Square footage is about what we have :).

Sorry to hear about that Gena. You loved her so much. It would happen even when I saw the same model/make/color car and once the facial profile of a man. And if you're driving it's hard to keep your composure when you're slobbering.

Forgot to mention it's .57 acres, house front faces North, it's a short side, like a brownstone so it's a loooong house. The west side will be a garden having sun from 12 onward and the setting sun so gardening shouldn't be an issue. That's the living room, kitchen & utility facing side.

They'll be able to knock off 3 ft from the walk-in master closet and give me a 9 x 6.5 utility room then which is also the backdoor out, so they can put a utility tub so I can have the Brute can in there. Won't have room for a folding table so I'll have to fold on top of the washer/dryer and at least I can groom Hagen in the living room that will NOT have carpet so cleaning should be easier since I can just sweep.

I am so happy for you and all of the exciting things going on...the planning and such. I am sorry it became so emotional for you. Loss of loved ones are so hard and it being your other half...I just cant even imagine.

I have the hardest time when emotions hit me out of no where and I am not prepared to deal with them. I know the day my daughter passed away is always hard and her birthday. I know as those days aproach and stuggle. But when an aquaintance brings her up and I am not prepared to talk about her or I see something that brings up memories when I am out and about... it is very hard.

May God be with you as you go thru this whole process and bring peace in your heart.

Hugs to you as well Gena. So sorry that you had that happen. God be with you.

your new place sounds lovely and you really thought through all the details =)

Trying to. Because with modulars, if you don't ask, it won't be included. Doorbells for example aren't standard. Or when we visited one modular I asked why the floor vent was right there where you stand at the island while at the sink....extra to make them "perimeter" vents, who'd ever think you would ever do them NOT perimeter? Some things should be standard.

In other news, some pics of my 6 line almost 24 hrs later in the tank. Doing well.

Looks awesome! The lil' clam isn't so lil' anymore. Totally looks like it's grown :).

Yes, Lil' Bit is 1.75 just end of shell to shell so with mantle extended 2". So considering she was 2/3" she's doing so well. I was so nervous about her when she was tiny. Now I'm finally ok.

Thank You. I had to turn down the blues to so they are not as light olive/yellow as they appear. I looked 1.5 yrs before I found some.. I was always a grand admirer of Gena's.

It really is amazing how well she's done. You always hear how hard it is to keep them alive when they are under 3"....I think that's the number.???? Anyways....she's gorgeous. Well done :).

2 things I do like is that it's clean to the environment as it's not built on site so there's not crap sitting around, etc and because it is built in a factory where it is weather colored, not exposed, I won't feel like they had to hurry something up in time due to rain and do a crappy job. It still will sit on a foundation with a crawl space underneath so it won't be sitting on concrete and I'll have a spot in the roof to go up for more storage. And it doesn't have cheap looking walls, doors and handles like manufactured homes as in double wides, or singles.

I'll actually have more closet space in my master than I do now and a bigger laundry area.

This is what I will have. Narrow side facing you with the porch. Both girls directly across from me at work had already been through the process and were very happy. I'll miss not having a garage to protect my car in the winter but oh well. At least I can sell this later if I want. I'll be 45 in Jan and didn't want a lived in home already in need of repairs that would already have to be done. So..for me, a single woman, this is the best option I could come up with. I couldn't afford a 3 bedroom, 2 full bath house otherwise.

Wow awesome house, my girlfriend and i are looking for a house currently and if i saw that house on the market we'd probably buy it . Best of luck!

Nice layout! So awesome!!

Thanks. I'll have plenty of room in the living room and dining room for my tanks, but of course it depends on where the outlets are. Never know about those. I think for the time being I'll have the 10g in my bedroom, and the 20 and 40 in the living room. I'll probably put the 34g in a closet for now as storage. See if I'm ok with that. I'm looking forward to picking out plants in the spring. It's already in the green forest and the house being olive I want to pick out things that are more yellow, white, magenta. I especially like the red rocket crape myrtle. Seems to keep blooming so long. We have many at work and they are so pretty.

Well, great. That makes me feel good. I liked it better than the floor plans in which the house faces you laterally.

Thank You Gena. I'll keep everyone updated for sure.

I know having all the RFAs in there is a temporary situation, but I really love it!

Well, I've decided when I move that I'm going to set up the 40 and put everything that was in the 34 in there for now to have at least more room. The 34 will go in the closet into storage. I will be getting all the flowers together from both the 20 and the 34 into the 40. Think I'm going to sell the big hairy mushroom rock though- If the clowns hosted it would be different.. Takes up too much real estate. I also have a rock that has 3 small mushrooms on it in Gert's tank. Will take those to the local mtg on the 13th of this month.

I have not seen that color crepe myrtle before. Very nice. Will look great with the house colors you chose. Good plan for your tanks as well. I have been toying with setting up a 10 gallon in my bedroom but dont want to get over whelmed on tank cleaning day. We have alot of animals and fresh water tanks to clean that day already. Still thinking about it. I love all your flowers. Cant wait to see them all in one be tank!

I love crepe myrtle! It is my favorite southern US tree! I'd also put a plug in for magnolia though - it is so stately.

Can you grow Japanese maple in your climate zone? They have really neat leaf shapes and turn such a lovely red in the fall.

  • 4 weeks later...

Well, the prime lender approved the loan 2 wks ago.

I was sent the Appraisal today and have to esign.

Shortly the perc test will be completed and the house order will go in, then ground breaking can begin.

I had a very successful garage sale last Sat & Sun though people pissed me the hell off. I'm a very very VERY reasonable person, and too fair. I put $5 on a contemporary square-shade, cool lamp. Guy asks me if I'd take a couple. I wanted to say F off but I bit my too patient tongue and said Four. He walks away. Other guy- 5 items, totalling $18. He asks me if that's the best I can do....I said they're already discounted. A beer stein for $2. The one next to it has a price tag of $1. He says there's a fracture on the bottom ....I just wanted you to know. I said, I know and that's why it's a dollar. Shit people, I'm not gonna give it to you for free!

Emotional day today. I had 4 of Don's antique pieces sold, way under priced by me. I know Don would say they're only things, however, they meant something to me, and because he knew so much about antiques, he'd have been appalled at what I sold them for but I neither have time nor the know-how to research and know that no antique dealer would give me what I want. Those items leaving the house today somehow hurt more than getting rid of his clothes 11 mos after he passed. Guess in part I feel I failed Don on that. And I know I shouldn't look at it that way. And that I failed myself and should've asked more, knowing they're worth more but went for a for sure sale. I hate I did that.

I know he'd be proud of me for moving on and I remember us looking at a nice home w/ cathedral ceiling and him looking at me and saying... You'll have a house one day. Been balling since I got home after the buyers left as I didn't want to ever say good-bye, wanted to live in a future home with him, and I need/want a hug from the man that can't give it to me, who ALWAYS supported me.

I'm not looking for sympathy, I just needed to rant first about the greediness of people and then missing my husband.

And work is so stressful, big changes in the world of pharmacy happening 10/1 with a new diagnoses classification system which will make our lives a living hell come that day for mos, coupled with that we don't have enough people on the floor assisting pharmacies because of the outsourcing they're doing of the people below me so they never back-filled positions, all this during flu season and yes, while it's the end of Sept, all the old folks are already lining up for the flu and the pharmacies bill it because the manufacturers send the vaccines out earlier & earlier and then you have an elderly person complaining why they can't get a flu shot today through Medicare, cuz you just got one in March!. And my research specialist group went from 7 people to 5 so the workflow feels doubled.

I'm just stressing and I wished I could have come home to a dinner made for me and walked in to embracing arms.

2.5 mos left in this home where we shared 3.5 yrs. They were my best times. I want to be happier about this Voyage right now but at this moment, right now, I'm having a difficult time.

I just needed to write it down and try to get it out of me. Thanks for listening. One of those bittersweet things.
